    1. Re: [ROOTWALKER] GOAD (GOOD) brick wall
    2. Shirley, I have seen the name Goad as Gourd. As a matter of fact I have heard my grandmother use Gourd and she was related to the Goads. In a Tennessee ancestors publication by the East Tennessee Historical Society there is a query---No.2821 Goad - Gourd - Shockley: James Goad B. 1775-85, poss. Bedford Co., VA; mar. 18 October 1804, Bedford Co., Margaret "Peggy" Shockley, James d. White Co., TN. James and Margaret Gourd on roll of Rock River Bapt. Church, Warren Co., TN 12 January 1828. Pr/o Robert P.; Mary M.; Thomas. Alexander b. 1810, mar. Jane Henderson 1889; Isabella; Ephraim; James Madison; Margaret. Desc/o James through Alexander. Desire any info. regarding Goad fam. prior to 1804. Mrs. Bobby J. Hansen, P.O. Box 138, Belen, NM 87002. This is in an april 1986 volume. It is an old volume. My grandmother was from Carroll Co. VA. She was related in several ways to the Goads--she called Gourds. She was related through the Nesters that married Goads on her fathers side. On her mother's side the Love's, her mother's sister Leah Love married Thomas Jefferson Goad. This was in Carroll Co. VA. There are a lot of Goads with large families. Do you have some other family names. I might recognizee some of them. Just a thought, Louise Batson
