    3. Can anyone tell me where Provident school was located in 1906. I have a picture of my grandmother, Nallie Trousdale Denny who was a teacher, with her class. On the back it has the date, and the name of the school. Thank Jean

    3. HI, My folks William Herschel and Mable Roberta Elrod Conley lived in Clarksville TN. They were married in 1935. their 3 rd child was Carl Dean Conley b. Dec.24,1940 and died Jan. 24, 1941. He had been "sickly". I did find a newspaper artical about his death but it didn't say what funeral home was taking care of him or where he was buried. My brother Willie thinks Carl was buried at Blackbottom cemetery. I believe it is now Riverview. I understand that the "old fella" who was the caretaker past away quiet a while ago, taking many unwritten grave sites with him. Carl did not have a head stone. I hope to put a stone on my brothers grave if possible My parents moved to Michigan where I was born in 1945. My parents also bought some land near First Street in the 50's. If you have that type of info ,I would like that also. Thanks for your interest in being so helpful to others. Gloria

    1. [ROOTWALKER] BROWN, Claybourne, Hickman Co., TN, Land Records (Repost)
    2. Good morning Jerald, Thanks for the compliment about the ROOTWALKER website.  It is a great website but all of the credit for it goes to Vanessa Slea, owner of both the ROOTWALKER website and this mail list.  The "Hickman County Deed Book B, 1811 - 1813" is the only deed book from Hickman County, Tennessee, that we have in the ROOTWALKER library. We are constantly adding new books to our growing library, and hope to have more land records in the future. ***** In the "Hickman County Deed Book B" there is an entry for Mr. Claybourne BROWN.  This name is also spelled "Claburn" in the same document.  The front of the document where the signatures are spells the name as Claburn but a notation on the back of the document spells it as Clabourne. This deed is for land on Hurricane Creek and was registered on July 14, 1813. The transaction transferring ownership of this land actually took place on November 6, 1812, and was between James BRACKEN of Sumner County, Tennessee, and Mr. William BROWN of Humphreys County, Tennessee. This tract of land included 150 acres and sold to Mr. BROWN for $175.00. The Hurricane Creek that this land is on is a tributary to the Duck River. This land was part of a tract of land belonging to Mr. James BRACKEN that originally included 333 acres. The people that signed this document were Mr. James BRACKEN, Mr. Claburn BROWN and Mr. Kemp CRAWLEY, who signed by his mark. On the back of this document is a notation that this deed was proven in open court in April 1813 by the oaths of Mr. Claybourne BROWN and Mr. Kemp CRAWLEY, and was also signed by Mr. William STONE, Clerk and Mr. Robert ESTES, D.C. ***** We hope this information is helpful to you in your research. Is there anyone else I can look up in this book for you? Thanks for being part of the ROOTWALKER family. God Bless America! 1. [ROOTWALKER] Rootsweb server difficulties and ROOTWALKER mails.
    2. Hello everyone, As many of you have probably realized by now, the portion of Rootsweb that handles the ROOTWALKER mail list has been dysfunctional for several days. (With the enormous amount of mails that pass through the Rootsweb servers, it isn't surprising that they have occasional hardware problems.) Some of the mails sent to the ROOTWALKER mail list have not posted. For example, I posted 5 mails before realizing that there was a problem. Three of these mails have not yet appeared on the mail list. I will repost these mails in a few moments. Rootsweb may catch up on their backlog of mails and post these lost mails also, so don't worry if you see duplicates. If any of you have sent mail to the ROOTWALKER mail list and it has not appeared please repost it if you would like to do so. Thanks for understanding and thanks for being part of the ROOTWALKER family. God Bless America! Stan Magnesen ROOTWALKER site/list coordinator

    3. Hi Stan, I do believe that Thomas G is my uncle gilbert, as the family called him. Haven't looked at my Coakley notes in quite some time. I don't know anything about Davidsons, sorry. There is a Hodges buried there though. sarah florence Averitt Hodges ex wife of Welborn Hodges, I'd have to lookup his name, Welborn might be his middle name . I seem to recall you have a Hodges branch on your tree. i recalled I do have grade school photo from 1930 from Hickory Pt School, my aunt identified most of the kids for me 2 years ago. There are 2 Davidson according to Agnes Coakley Hart. Ernest Davidson, maybe 10-13 yrs range , he l;ooks about the age of my 14 yr old uncle Horace in the photo and the other Davidson she didn't recall first name. He is in the group with the older students though so probably still 10-13 range. I did leave a copy in Montgomery Co on my 2001 trip but never checked if it was loaded on usgenwebsite for Montgomery. i never looked at 1930 census since it's release to verify my aunt's memory of the students' names. Hope this helps. Good morning Jeanne, The oldest transcription of the DAVIDSON Cemetery at Hickory Point that I have found is from 1938 but it doesn't list a gentleman by the name of Gilbert COAKLEY.
