    3. Teresa, Hi, I'm still working on your James Coakleys. I looked at census entries last week for him. It's possible both his parents were born in Tn. You mentioned he had a son Monroe. How did you get that information? Do you have a census for James with Monroe listed? Also, where did you get this info on William Coakley married to Mary J. Young? Do you know what connection to you? Jeanne

    2. Good morning, Yes, the Red referred to in this book begins in Sumner in the area between Gallatin, Portland, and White House, Tennessee. 1. Re: [ROOTWALKER] CHISM names referred to in "Red River Settlers"
    2. Hi Steve, The Red River referred to in the book " Red River Settlers" is in Tennessee. This river starts at three springs between Gallatin, Portland, and White House, Tennessee. If you see these three towns on a map, they make a triangle. The springs are in the center of that triangle. Then the river flows in sort of a northwest direction from Sumner County into Robertson County, Tennessee, then into Kentucky fust sourthwest of Franklin in Simpson County. Then, It turns in a southwestern direction and flows back into Tennessee near Adams, in Robertson County, then to Port Royal in Montgomery County, then on over to Clarksville and its confluence with the Cumberland there. There are a couple of forks of the Red that flow into the main river. One flows south from the direction of Hopkinsville, Ky., to just north of Clarksville, where it joins the main Red. Another fork flows south from Kentucky where it joins the main river near Adams, Tennessee, and another fork flows paralell with the main river, but slightly north of it and in Kentucky, just south of Franklin, then joins the main river when it flows out of Tennessee into Kentucky for a short time. There are a lot of Red Rivers in the United States. I looked them up just now. There are Red Rivers in Alaska, Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia, Idaho, Illinois, Kentucky(This is the same one as mentioned in the paragraph above.), Louisiana, Massachusetts, Manitoba Canada, Minnesota, Maine, Montana, Mew Mexico, New York, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Oregon, Three in Tennessee, Texas, Wisconsin, and West Virginia. The Red River Settlers mentioned in the book were early settlers in the region, most of them in the late 1700's and early 1800's. Several of my ancestors are listed in it, and some are not listed in the book, but are documented as having lived in the area in those early years. Becarse of this, I would have to say that the book does not cover anywhere near all the settlers of the area. I hope this helps clarify where this particular Red River is. Thanks for being part of the ROOTWALKER family. 2. Howdy all you CHISM researchers, While looking at our copy of "Red River Settlers" by Edythe Rucker Whitley c. 1980, tonight, I noticed several references to the CHISM family in Montgomery and Davidson Counties of Tennessee. These given names were John, Sally, and Taylor. There is a reference to John Chisham in Montgomery County, Tenn. There is also a reference to the Chisholm family as being a prominent family in North Carolina. If you want more information, let me know. Thanks for being part of the ROOTWALKER family. 1. Re: [ROOTWALKER] Coakley
    2. Hello Teresa, We went to the Sumner County archives today to try to help you find your William Coakley and his marriage to Mary J. Young. We searched through the marriage record books of 1878-1886, 1881-1882,1886-1994, 1895-1902, 1902-1910, 1904-1906, 1910-1917, 1917-1923, 1923-1928, 1928-1932, 1941-1944, 1935-1939, 1927-1928, 1928-1929, 1944-1947, 1940-1941, 1941, plus the census records for 1860, 1870, and 1880. We did not find any marriage of William Coakley to Mary J. Young in Sumner county, Tennessee of those years. We searched by both the Coakley surname and the Young surname. We did, however find several other Coakley marriages. I think I should point out to you that all of the earlier census books showed Coakleys only in Cheatham County. I did not see any Coakley family members in any other county in 1860, 1870, or 1880. If you think of any more information that can help us help you. Thanks for being part of the ROOTWALKER family.
