    1. [ROOTWALKER] HUGHES family members in "Red River Settlers."
    2. Hello Janet, I looked for all the names you sent and found none of them in "Red River Settlers." Remember, they may have been in the area, but were not shown on the particular records the author drew the names from. I have several ancestors that were missed for that reason, but their descendants were shown. Thanks for being part of the ROOTWALKER family. 1. Re: [ROOTWALKER] A Question About the Obits
    2. Hello Leslie, There is a search engine on the obituaries page of the Tennessean that will help you find an obituary that they have listed in the past. Go to the main page for the Tennessean at: www.tennessean.com then click on obituaries. At the bottom of the next page you will find the search engine. It only searches the years 2000 and 2001, so if the obit you need is older than that, you may have to resort to the old Pony Express. Thanks for being part of the ROOTWALKER family. 3. Hi, Yes I have had trouble getting books for genealogy thru Inter Loan I even called the libraries in the areas I need the books and was told that they do not loan out genealogy books any more. I had ordered about a total of 9 and I'm in an area where my resources for Tennessee and Kentucy are very slim. 2. Raymond Millman
    3. Hi List, I'm trying to locate living relatives to my grandmother's 1/2 sister. My Grandma was Etta Veonie Averitt Coakley. Her sister was Hettie Averitt Pardue. Hettie was born ca. 1881 married J.L. Pardue. I found them on 1910,1920 Roberston Co census. His name was most likely Jefferson Lee Pardue. Their children and their ages in 1920 were: Jesse "Roy" age22, Arthur "Earnest" 19, Willie A age 17, not sure if s or dau., twins Hubert & Herbert 14, Lena 11, Mary 8, Laura 5. My aunts tell me that Roy was married w 2 daus. In the 1930's the family lived in Pleasantview I believe. I'm hoping some one on this list went to school with these folks or their offspring. My fingers are crossed, also busy writing to Pardues in the phone book in Tn. TIA, Jeanne

    1. [ROOTWALKER] What is the "Red River Settlers" book?
    2. Hello Deborah, I am sure your question has been answered by now in the conversation line about the "Red River Settlers." It is a book about records of the early settlers of Montgomery, Robertson, and Sumner counties of Tennessee, but I have noticed some references to other counties surrounding that area. If you need any more information, just let us know. Thanks for being part of the ROOTWALKER family. 3. I live in a small town in California, population about 5000. I have had no trouble getting books through ILL. I have gotten books and films from TSLA (five at a time seems to be their policy). Might this response just be your local library's policy? Years ago our local library requested that I pay the return postage, but maybe our local economy is better (?) now because postage is now paid by the library. (maybe if you offered to pay postage.......?) Bob, in northern Calif. ~~Leslie~~ wrote: > > cannot get books across state lines. Has anyone else > > had that experience? 3. Hi Janet. I live in Ohio and have gotten all sorts of inter-library loan materials from TN, NC, VA, Kansas and CA. It may be helpful to use the largest Metro library area in your area. I also go to the reference / research librarian at my local branch and she reels in all kinds of thing, If the Library being asked loans out the stuff, she can get anything for me. I will say though that TSLA is not real eager to lend. But usually - the same article or book or film...whatever.. is usually in more than one location in the world.
