    1. [ROOTWALKER] Red River Settlers book, TRIBBLE information
    2. Good morning Margaret, The book refers to the collection you speak of, but does not tell where it is. In the footnote for the TRIBBLE family, the Tribble file is said to be in the Whitley Collection. I will try to find out more about this and let you know. Thanks for being part of the ROOTWALKER family. 1. [ROOTWALKER] FROST, BUNCH, FERRY in "Red River Settlers."
    2. Hi Laura! I find two references to the surname FROST in the book, "Red River Settlers." Ebenezer FROST is shown as a Captain in the 24th Regiment on Dec. 26, 1808 in a list of commissioned officers of Montgomery Co., TN regiments. In the second reference, John Blair is shown as a Justice to receive the list of taxable property for Capt. Frost's Company in Montgomery Co., TN, in 1809. There are no individuals with the surname BUNCH listed in the book. There are no people shown with the surname FERRY/FURRY. We hope this information is new and useful to you. Thanks for being part of the ROOTWALKER family. 2. Good morning Linda, Here is the information you requested from the book, "Red River Settlers." 1. PAYNE, John Wesley, There is no John Wesley listed, but there is a John and a John Sr. In the first reference to John, he is mentioned as a son of Matthew PAYNE, who was the son of Josiah PAYNE of Chester Co., Pennsylvania. John married a lady named Polly CAVE. In the second reference to a John PAYNE, there is mention of a George PAYNE of Virginia who was wed to Mary WOODSON in 1705, and then died in 1744. They had a son named John also. There is a will of John PAYNE, Sr., from Robertson Co., TN, dated October 9, 1805 and proved in open court in April, 1807. This is from the Robertson County Will Book 1, p. 233. 2. HUDSON, Lilly L. There are no HUDSONs listed in the book. 3. CANTRELL. None of your CANTRELLs are shown in the book. 4. BLACKWELL, Minerva. Minerva is not shown under the BLACKWELL surname. 5. SMITH, May Elizabeth, J. Stuart, Everett L., Minnie Lee. None of these individuals are shown under the SMITH surname. 6. ARNOLD, Nancy, Jeremiah. These two people are not shown in the book. 7. DONNELL, Nancy. There is no Nancy DONNELL listed, but there is a Nancy CONNELL shown. If you are interested in this Nancy, let me know. 8. WEBB, Didema. Didema is not listed under the surname WEBB. We wish we had been able to provide you with more information, but hope the above tidbits are useful to you. 1. [ROOTWALKER] Anthony and Mary FOSTER in "Red River Settlers."
    2. Good morning Frances, Here is the information you asked for about Anthony and Mary FOSTER from the book, "Red River Settlers." Mary FOSTER is mentioned as the sister of Henry FEATHERSTONE. This information was found in a will of Henry's recorded in Prince Edward County, Va., that was recorded on April 4, 1760. That is the only mention of Mary FOSTER, though she was not in the Red River country at that time. Anthony FOSTER is mentioned in an indenture dated June 5, 1799 between Howell Tatum and Rosannah Tatum, who was Howell's wife, and Anthony Foster, Robert Searcy, and Francis B. Sappington, carpenters, on the other part for $350.00 in Davidson County, TN. Anthony FOSTER is also mentioned in a land grant # 1578 to Anthony Foster, dated Feb. 23, 1793, Warrant # 3526, for 228 acres in Tennessee County, south of the Cumberland River This is recorded in book C-3, page 230. This is all the information on Anthony and Mary FOSTER found in the book. We hope you find it useful. Thanks for being part of the ROOTWALKER family. 2. ~~Leslie~~
    3. Ed asked me about my BRIDGES ancestors in TN. --------------- To the best of my current knowledge, Ed, my BRIDGES people have been in Robertson County, TN since ca 1845 when William Clayton BRIDGES (1805-1867) & his wife, Amanda Maria Louisa MANTLO (1804-1866) settled there. This couple was in KY for a time, in fact I have speculated that their marriage may have taken place there; however, William was born in NC and Amanda, in VA. 2. Frances Osburn
    3. Stan- William Foster, Sr. is listed on the 1836 Montgomery County map in District 1. That is in the Northeastern part of the county just North of the Red River. I am trying to locate the father of John Willis Foster, born in SC 1808, who shows up in Dickson County in 1831 when he married Mary Jane Owen. Some fellow researchers seem to think that William Foster Sr. of Montgomery County is the father of John Willis. I am trying to verify this information. The information on Anthony and Mary might give me a clue since both of these names appear in the children of John and many other Foster lines. Would you please send me the info on Anthony and Mary Foster. Frances

    3. Stan, Thank you so much for your trouble but I don't wish at present to have any information on the Murpheys. The reason I thought this Polly Lawrence might tie into mine was because my husband had met some Lawrences in Robertson Co. years ago that he thought looked a lot like my people. However at that time, I was too young to be very curious and was raising 4 children. Now that my husband and parents are deceased and I have the time I have tried to do some research and the older I get the more important it becomes. I need to get back in the area when I have time to do some looking myself. Shirley Lawrence White
