Hello ROBERTSON researchers, In Jackson County, TN, Nov. 17, 1821, the following stray animal report was recorded. "Taken up by Walter ROBERTSON on Blackbourns fork of Roaring River a black mare supposed to be two years old. No brands perceivable. Appraised to twelve dollars $12.00." If this happens to be one of your family, you now know the general location where they lived. Thanks for being part of the ROOTWALKER family. Sincerely, Stan Magnesen ROOTWALKER site/list coordinator

Hi List, I need to locate info on a death that may have occured at Ft. Campbell during WWII This is the little info I have to go on: Kenneth JACOBS was an MP at Ft. Campbell, attacked and killed while transporting a prisoner. Death possibly occurred in time range from March through July (possibly Aug) of 1944. I want to check this out while in TN. I planned on looking through old newspapers but that's alot of papers. Any other ways to find out if this happened? Would Ft. Campbell have easy access to a database of police killed on duty, as our police departments do? I would appreciate any hints on how to best find this out. That is all the info I have on Kenneth JACOBS, possibly his family was from KY. Thanks, Jeanne

Yes there was quite a few Pardue's in Cheatham and Montgomery but have never found him. He married abt 1884 Margaret Hooper Hollis. Thanks for answering me. Should have also mentioned that my CARNEYs can be found in Davidson, Jackson, Overton, and Fentress Counties in Tennessee and Barren and Edmonson Counties in Ketucky...and knowing me I left a county or two out! Kymm in Huntsville
Hi all, I have many names that I am researching. Since we are talking about BAGGETT's I'll start there. Edna and Jewel BAGGETT were sisters. They married two of my grandmother's brothers, Woodford and Gerstle CARNEY respectively. They were the sons of James Henry and Earnest (CARTER) CARNEY Edna and Woodford had four children who may still be living. Jewel and Gerstle had one child who may still be living. Trying to identify parents and any other siblings or relatives. Woodford was born in 1905 in Overton County, TN and died in 1954 in Nashville. Gerstle was born in 1913 in Nashville and died in 1985. He married Elizabeth Agee after his marriage with Jewel. I don't know if Jewel died or if they divorced? Any clues to lead me in the right direction would be most appreciated! I have more info on this Carney line also, if anyone thinks they connect Thanks in Advance! Kymm in Huntsville
Hello everyone, If you were hoping to go to the Tennessee State Library and Archives this coming Saturday, you might want to reschedule that trip for another time. A number of downtown Nashville streets will be closed for the Country Music Marathon that is being held Saturday, April 28, 2001. All streets along the course will be closed by 6am. West End Ave. will be closed from 29th Ave to 25th Ave from 3 to 10 am. Broad will open at about 8am. Belmont and Clifton Lane will open at 10am. Granny White and 12th Ave will open at 10:30 am. The list of street closures goes on and on, so be very sure you really want to walk a ways to get downtown. The folks at TSLA tell me that they are looking forward to an easy day. If you do decide to make a day of TSLA this coming Saturday, be careful and enjoy yourself! Thanks for being the ROOTWALKER family. Thanks, Ida, I suspected it was in the area of Fort Campbell, but haven't been able to prove it. The lady who contacted me about Asbury said she had records saying it was 14 miles from New Providence. That would just about have to be in the Fort area very close to the state line. Janet, I didn't see an 1880 census index listing for Henry "Riley" Pardue. there were no Pardue Hickman Co listings. He could be hidin'out in another Pardue household. Rather than type their names, these are the 1880 Cheatham census pages were PARDUES are indicated: 6,49,50,56,57,59,63,64,73,81,82. A few sprinkled Montgomery 162,163,305,316,348 (I just started wearing glasses yesterday and the progressive lenses are giving me trouble reading census book) I had good friendly response when I sent letters to TN PARDUEs, one man even sent me his music CD even tho' we weren't related. You might try that, I included a SASE with a typed letter listing names and leaving places for someone to write info. By the way, there is a young actor named Kip PARDUE in the Sly Stallone movie Driven. anybody related to him? Jeanne
