    1. [ROOTWALKER] Re: Overton County; Jesse Chism
    2. Deborah L Jorgensen
    3. I need some advice here. Per Tn-Rootwalker help I got to the Overton Co. website. After fiddling around there for a while I got to the Overton County Court Minutes 1844-1849---for the "C's" ---and actually found a Jessee (sic) Chism there. I have never, ever found a Jesse Chism (name of my great great grandfather) in Overton Co. before, even though his obit and other info lists him as going from Overton Co. Tenn to McLean Co. Illinois after his mother died around the end of the 1840s. There was a "URL" -----http://www.rootsweb.com/~tnoverto/docs/1844countycourtc.htm I clicked on that but couldn't get anywhere. Or I got somewhere but couldn't understand what they were trying to tell me. I need a better computer with lots more megabytes or gigabytes or whatever and had almost given up genealogy until I can get one. But now I am so excited that I may have found that doggone Tennessee Jesse Chism that I wonder what I should do now? Do I write somewhere for a document? Do I run over to Nashville? (I live in Knoxville) Is there somewhere I can get to on the internet, even with an inferior computer, to find whatever court document I need to find out more about that Jesse Chism that is listed and see if he must be mine? 1. Re: [ROOTWALKER] Re: William Jefferson Hodges
    2. Thank you for the good information about William Jefferson Hodges. It is far more than I have found. BTW, in a book by Maury Baggett he gives Oliver Baggett's full name as Alvin Oliver. Alvin is listed in William Baggett's (his father) will along with his siblings that were listed in the 1850 census of Montgomery County in the household of William Baggett. Do you have a date of death for Oliver Baggett? He was my husband's grandfather. The children listed for Oliver's daughter, Pantha, who married John Frank Shelton are incomplete. The correct listing in order of their births is Julia Brown. Latha Burns, Augusta (Gussie) Lee, Mollie Bea, William Brake, James Oliver (my husband), Buford Carl and Howard Carter (all Sheltons, of course)

    2. Hello Elsie, Thanks for the information on the HODGES clan. I had thought Charles was the father of Charles Thomas, but can't explain why I had believed this to be true. I appreciate you correcting this for me. I had been sent information about the family once before by someone else researching the HODGES family, but have filed it away somewhere for safe keeping and now it is safely hiding from me. I am sure the other HODGES family researchers appreciate the data and all your hard work, too. Thanks for being part of the ROOTWALKER family. 1. [ROOTWALKER] Overton County Roll Call
    2. Hi Guys! So sorry to say that I have to take back my offer for doing look ups in this book. It seems Gary Norris, the writer, is very much in the hole due to publishing, and I don't want to deter anyone from purchasing this great book! If anyone has ties to Overton County, this book is a MUST HAVE!! Not only does it cover the cemeteries that lie within the present Overton County boundaries, but also those that were at any time in Overton County, including those located in Clay, Fentress, Pickett and Putnam Counties. There is a description of where each cemetery is located, as well as very good maps of each county listed above. For each person (but not all), he also lists additional info including spouse, parents, siblings, etc. Again this book is a MUST HAVE for anyone with ties to Overton County! If anyone's interested in this book I believe there is an order form on the Overton County page. Sorry again, Kymm

    1. Re: [ROOTWALKER] BREWINGTON in the Jackson Co. Ranger Book.
    2. Thanks Stan......... This very well could be Mathew Brewington, son of James Matterson Brewington that was born in N. Carolina abt. 1811.....the rest of the children, but one born in KY., were born in Jackson Co.,etc. I have some spouses names but the "blunt" of my search in Middle Tn. is ANY Brewingtons........dating back to 1812..Original spelling from what I have seen is BRUINGTON......I have seen this on original documents...or copies of.....:>) Most were born, raised and married and died in this area....along with Wilson Co.,Tn...I would think the Brewingtons of the past 100 years are more Wilson Co..a lot of decendants close to there today.....but I can't find out anything about my great grandfather.... My gr-grandfather , William Brewington, had to have spent most of his life in and about these areas. Except for when my grandmother and her brother were born. That was the 1880's in Christian Co., KY.. I believe that when my grandmother married in 1897 at the age of 15, her father, mother and brother, William C. Brewington, moved to Tn...That is where Uncle Will married his wife, a cousin, and raised his family....Wilson Co.,Tn. My grandmother stayed in Ky. I do appreciate your look-up..... I will see what I can do about the "spouses" names for a look-up. Thanks, Margaret
