    1. [ROOTWALKER] Speaking of reunions...
    2. Hey y'all, :) Since Stan mentioned that it's time for reunions, I thought that I'd share this with the group. It's a list of guests that were present at "The Grand Reunion" held June 1, 1890 at J.W. Pardues place near Grantville, TN. Thanks to Stans listing of communities by county, I now know that Grantville was in Montgomery County. Thanks. :)) This list is an entry in a small pocket notebook that is one of my family artifacts. It was kept by John T. Pardue during the 1880s and 90s and has all kinds of little tidbits like this in it. I'll quote it verbatim as much as possible, so make allowances for the spelling ! <grin> ------- June 1st 1890 Grand Reunion at J. W. Pardues Near Grantville Tenn. The Guest consisted as follows Garland Stewart and family Bruce Jones and family Martin Albright and family Andrew Pardue and family Robert (my note: possibly Rohbert) Pardue and family Mrs. Andersen Albright and children Frank Brown and family John Rinehart and Wife Robert Evans Charlie Evans Charlie Dawson The day was past off in a General Conversation the Table were laden with all the most Exquisit Edibles that the heart could wish for and all went happy as a marriage bell But then the sad time come when we all had to part perhaps never to meet this side of Heaven ----------- I've not identified who all these folks were yet, but maybe someone here might find or know of a link to some of these people. For those of you who are attending a family reunion this summer, I hope it's as wonderful as this one seems to have been. :)) Suzanne

    1. Re: [ROOTWALKER] Ft. Campbell Kenneth JACOBS
    2. Jeanne, Sorry for the delay in responding to this but I've been spending too much time on the porch swing ! <grin> Although you might find something about this in the local paper, it's just as likely that you won't. Keep in mind that this was wartime and sometimes things that could have been perceived as being "negative" or "threatening" weren't "allowed" to be published or written about. So don't be surprised if you don't find anything. But, there might be a couple of other places to check for info on this. First of all, every military post that I've ever been on (and that's quite a few <g>), has some kind of post historian and/or a curator of a post museum, even if they're only volunteers. Although the Ft. Campbell webpage does have a bit of history on it, it doesn't list a post historian. You could try sending an email to PageMaster@emh2.campbell.army.mil and ask if there is one. Or you could look for the local chapters of the VFW or similar group. They often supply the volunteers to staff a post musuem or archive collections. Another place to check is the post newspaper. It may have been published in the 40s. The link to that is http://www.campbell.army.mil/courier.htm The page also mentions that "The Sink Library maintains back issues of the Fort Campbell Courier on microfilm." I'm assuming that that is probably the local county library. One last place to try might be the Armys history site. It's at http://www.army.mil/cmh-pg/ . You might be able to email them for info on how to get what you're looking for. Good luck cousin ! :) Suzanne

    3. Margaret, Thanks for checking. Dorothy is no longer an Anderson. She remarried and her cousins can't recall the new surname. I will contact a cousin and see if Dorothy is a church member, maybe I can find her that way. Could you possibly get me the Coakley listings from the phone book? Thanks, Jeanne > > Margaret > > There are some Coakley's in the book >

    1. Re: [ROOTWALKER] Surnames and intro/Baggett Line
    2. Hi, My Baggett line is mostly in Robertson County, through Jesse Jones Baggett (1799-1834), his son James Granberry (1825-1873), and his son William B. (1852-1933). His daughter Mary, married (Robert) Elvis Pitt, and were my daddys grandparents. I have some of the basic info, such as dates, burial locations, etc., but I would love to have any background, like where they lived, etc. . I'm also working on the wives families, but of course that is much harder to research. Thanks, Suzanne

    1. Re: [ROOTWALKER] Surnames and intro
    2. Janet, No, I don't think that I have anything on either Van Dular or Henry Riley Pardue. Not yet anyways, but if I come across anything, I've saved your posting and I'll let you know. :) I do have a line of research that I haven't had time to pursue yet, that may end up being of help to you. I live in McMinn county, just a few miles from the Monroe county line, and have stumbled across a half-dozen or so Pardues buried in 4 different cemeteries. It may not mean anything, but that many names indicates, to me at least, that there was probably a Pardue family in the area. When I have time, I'll see what I can find out. Suzanne

    2. Raymond Millman
    3. Hi list, How big a place is White Bluff Tn? Where is it? I'm trying to locate a Dorothy Coakley Anderson. She remarried and her cousins can't recall her NEW last name. She was working on Coakley genealogy 20 + years ago. So frustrating to not be able to get in touch with the only other searcher!!! I'm thinking of running an ad in the local paper if there is one? I sent a letter in Jan to a P.O. Box number that's 20 yrs old. No response. Any ideas on how I can locate her? She is porbably in her 70's. Thanks for any help, it's hard searching from Los Angeles.
