Hello Margaret, I'm sorry, but there are no TRIBBLEs or COCKEs that were married in Dickson County, TN, in the time period of 1838-1848. There were no ministers or justices of the peace by those surnames either. Thanks for being part of the ROOTWALKER family. Do you have any records on any Tribbles or Cockes in the Marriage records? Margaret
Hi folks, I still have a few Tennessee maps for anyone that is interested. All but two have been mailed out to those people that wanted copies of them. The postage is 55 cents, and that is all it will cost to get one of these maps. Thanks for being the ROOTWALKER family. Sincerely, Stan
Hello everyone, I ran into a member of the ROOTWALKER family today and told her that the next information we would have on this mail list was about Dickson County. Then, I got home and found that a great deal of the discussion in yesterday's emails was about a community in Dickson County. It looks as if the time is right to do some work in that area. I have in my hands a copy of the Dickson County Marriage Record Book, 1838 - 1848. I will research names in it until you are all satisfied that you need no more information from it. So, if you think you may have someone in your family's past that tied the knot in Dickson County, ask away! Remember that if your kin was in one of the surrounding counties or a county that splintered off Dickson, such as Houston, your family might just be found here. Thanks for being the ROOTWALKER family. Sincerely, Stan Magnesen ROOTWALKER site/list coordinator
Hello Deborah, You don't need to go to Overton County for those documents. I have them. Page 139 and 161 of the Overton County Court Minute Book, January, 1843 - November, 1849. Now, all I need to do is decipher the handwriting. Thanks for being part of the ROOTWALKER family. Hi Stan, I did talk to Dorothy today. She is now a White. I plan on meeting with her on my trip. Only 12 days away!! Thanks for the White Bluff info. There is an interesting White Bluff web page with lots of humor and picutres of the town http://blufwatch.tripod.com/ as well as helpful info. The page "You might be from White Bluff if...." is particularly funny if you have small town memories and everyone knowing everyone. Jeanne

Hi Jeanne, Thanks for posting the URL for the Dickson Herald obituaries. The editor told us back last summer when they ran an article on Vanessa and I, our cemetery transcriptions, and genealogical work that they would have the obituaries on line soon. It looks as if he is a man of his word! I have a great deal of respect for those people at the Dickson Herald and hope everyone will visit their web site often. Hello Suzanne, How would you like to have a copy of Granbury Baggett's Bible information? If you look on the ROOTWALKER web site at: http://www.rootsweb.com/~tnnmid/baggett4.htm You will find the BAGGETT Cemetery in Robertson County. I am not absolutely positive, but I believe William B. BAGGETT is buried there, along with most of his family. The BAGGETT homeplace was very near by. Thanks for being part of the ROOTWALKER family. Hello Jeanne, White Bluff is a community in Dickson County, which is in the ROOTWALKER region. We know the area well. In the 1990 census, White Bluff had a population of 1988 people, but I am certain it has grown quite a bit with the growth of nearby Nashville. If you find the new name of Dorothy, let us know and we will search for her. Have you looked in the nearby communities of Pegram (Cheatham Co.), Burns, or Dickson. You might want to also take a look in the Davidson County area for her. Thanks for being part of the ROOTWALKER family. Thanks Stan. I just got back from the McClung Collection at the Knoxville Historical Library (somewhere I have not been able to get to due to lots of family busy-ness the last few months!)--and was told that I would most likely need to go to Overton County - Livingston, I presume! And maybe I can do that in a week or two. Its not so awfully far. I will let the list know if I find something and if so, how I found it. If I can't find anything there, I will yell for help!
