The only Cherry's I knew were Earl and Frank. Earl had two daughters, one died recently. Frank and his wife adopted a sister and brother from Germany when they were small. Frank and his wife died some time ago. Write to my daughter Moni, [email protected] she knows Earl and Mary real well and she and Earl still have some books left I think. I am looking for any information about Ophelia's ancestors. Her parents were James B. & Cynthia Ann Cross and she was born Nov. 3, 1844 in Sango, Montgomery Co. Tn. and died Nov. 6, 1906 in Louise, Tn. She married William Henry Neblett Mar. 21, 1867. They had 3 children - Mary Edna, William Robert Lee and Addie Lou Elma. Ophelia's 2nd husband was Zachariah Batson and they had 5 children - Burney Z., Hattie, Stewart, Mary & Vmist. (Some records show that they only had one child - Burney Z.) Burney is my grandfather and Ophelia is my great-grandmother. Ophelia is said to be Cherokee and distantly related to Pocahontas. I'd appreciate any information about Ophelia's ancestors.
We have Cherry's here in the Jackson Purchase of Kentucky. McCracken county and Graves County for sure. Paducah had a Mayor Robert Cherry and he owned Cherry's florist and it is still here in Paducah. They are also in Murray Kentucky, Livingston County. I have not researched the name but will help if I can. I really need a few names to go with to have a starting point. Have fun and God Bless. Betty Lockett
Thank You so much for all the information this is a great start for me.
Thanks this is a great start for me. Do you have any names of these Cherry's ?
My name is Sam Webb. I lived in Carlisle Co. Ky the first 23 years of my life and have lived in Fl for the past 40 years. There are Cherry's from Carlisle Co. West of Arlington, Carlisle Co. Ky there is a Cherry road that leads to the County seat of Bardwell Ky. Many years ago it was the main road to Bardwell. That has since been replaced by US 51. However, the road is now got a County No. 1594, I believe. The County Court House in Bardwell can send you information on that area. There is an old one room Cherry school house that was on that road and there is a picture of it in the Carlisle Co. History Book 1820-1900 on page 52. It is a picture of Cherry school and the entire student body standing in from of it. It does not identify the year but it identifies the names of the students. Cherry s are as follows: Clarence , Elizabeth , William F. , Will , Martha and many of their neighbors the Adair s. I am related to the Adairs. That's about all I know about the Cherry's of Carlisle Co. KY. They have a Genealogical Society , P.O. Box 279 Wickliffe Ky 42087 that serves both Ballard and Carlisle Counties. Web site http://www.ballardconet.com/GenWeb/carlisle.html Where you can access their Look-ups and the Ky archives. Always happy to help a fellow researcher. Debbie: We are from western Ky. My wife from Paducah and I am from Arlington KY.. We have some Loney's and Harris' in my home County of Carlisle. I plan to go to Bolwling Green and the Mammoth Cave area, just east of Muhlenberg Co. The three counties are Warren, Butler and Edmonson that we are most interested. I traveled KY 62 through Dawson Springs, Central City clear to E'town and Bardtown every trip on my way to UK when I was in school there. It may be best for me to do some research in Frankfort before we start looking in the three counties? Thanks for the note. No Pat, We have some Time Shares and we are both from Ky but have spent the last 40 years living in FL. We spend the summer at my mother's place in KY. We use the Time Shares in an area where our genealogy research takes us. Most of our research is done on the internet and at libraries or at Genealogy Societies in the deferent areas of the country.
