    1. Re: [ROOTWALKER] Hunt, Allen, and Hurdle - reply
    2. Good morning. John Hunt and Elizabeth Hurdle were married in Loudoun or Loudon Co. Va. I don't know if this is my John Hunt or not. I simply saved this marriage info because Elizabeth unknown was said to have been born in Va. and the age was okay. My John lived in Smith co. Tn. at least from about 1820-about 1843 or 1845, when he moved to Missouri(Lawrence co.) It is possible his spouse Elizabeth was Elizabeth Allen. Thanks for your interest. It is getting very frustrating!! We(myself and two or three cousins)have long believed our John belongs somewhere in the Dr. Daniel Hunt line, but have no proof. Patricia

    1. Re: [ROOTWALKER] GRISHAM/GRISSOM & RICHMOND, SUMNER COUNTY - reply
    2. Hi Stan, Thanks for the formal greeting and welcome. It's frustrating to be so far removed in geographical location that I can't visit the Sumner area to do further research. According to tax/land records, the only Grisham/Grissom's owning property on the West Fork of Drakes Creek in the late 1790's and early 1800's were Benjamin, my great X 4, and a William. Haven't determined who that William is and it's driving me crazy. Could be an older brother or Ben's father. My only hope, I think, is that some day, someone will be searching this same tree with Ben's siblings or parents and we'll finally make the connection. This Grisham bunch has been very elusive. To date, I have found only a few looking into this line. I love this site, however. Most of my ancestors are from TN and KY, so I'll be adding more postings for those folks in the near future. Sure do appreciate the help that's been offered. Jenny

    1. [ROOTWALKER] Another Newbie! - Reply to Karen.
    2. Good morning Karen, Welcome to the ROOTWALKER family! We're very happy that you found us, too! We'll see what we can do to help you with your research whenever we can. Vanessa and I have compiled a "List Of Names To Keep An Eye Out For." This list is made up of names sent to us by members of the ROOTWALKER family along with the counties their families were in. We carry this list with us when we visit different archives and libraries across the ROOTWALKER region. We look this list over to refresh our memories, then when we notice familiar names in records we are researching, we verify the names are on this list and collect the information for the ROOTWALKER family member researching that name. We have tripped across a lot of previously unknown records by using this method. I am going to put your family names on this list right away, if you don't mind. If you can tell us what documentation you already have we will ignore that information if we happen across it again. Thanks for being part of the ROOTWALKER family. God Bless America! 2. Hello Phyllis, Welcome to the ROOTWALKER family! Have you looked in the counties that surround Smith County for these people? I also suggest that you look in Trousdale County if you haven't already done so. Let us know if there is any information you think we may be able to help you find. 3. >I have a Gill in Smith Co., Tennessee. Any connection? Jeanne Montana< Jeanne, My Gills are a collateral line to my Moore family and have always been referred to as "cousin", but I am uncertain of their exact connection. I do know that 1) many of them are buried with my Great Grandparents in the Neal-Moore cemetery in Smith County, 2) they are connected by marriage to Tuggles and Bradfords who are also related by marriage to my Moore line. I have a small file on John Tuggle b 1756 of VA who came to TN by way of NC (where his second wife was a Bradford and most if not all of their children were born). John Tuggle's daughter Elizabeth married John Gill and they lived in Smith County, just up the road from my Great Grandparents. Karen

    3. Jenny... My Smith origins in TN begin in Davidson County (Polly Heaton, daughter of pre-statehood pioneer Amos Heaton), go to Sumner (Polly marries William Smith, son of Thomas Smith of Sumner) and end up in Smith County (Polly, William, their son Josiah & his family are buried near New Middleton). But the most helpful thing I could pass along is this, the family Bible information which was posted in a DAR magazine 44 years ago. See below... Amos Heaton and Thomas Smith are my 4th Great Grandfathers and the end of both of my lines thus far. Karen This comes from a July 1958 DAR magazine: Bible of Thomas Smith, Smith Co., Tenn. Thomas Smith, Jan. 20, 1746 Martha Elizabeth Smith, born August 10, 1749 Judith Smith, born May 21, 1769 William Smith, born Mar. 7, 1771 Robert Smith, born June 23, 1773 Lewis Smith, born April 23, 1775 Elizabeth Smith, born May 1, 1778 Sally Smith, born March 10, 1781 Polly Smith, born Nov. 21, 1783 Jessica Smith, born July 14, 1786 John Smith, born Feb. 8, 1790 -------------- Polly Heaton Smith, wife of William Smith, born Feb. 25, 1778 Josiah Ramsey Smith, born Jan. 12 1799 Barithenia Cloud Smith, wife of J. R. Smith, born May 6, 1804 Emily Adelaide Smith, born May 25, 1828 Mary Elizabeth Smith, born April 1, 1830 Benjamin Franklin Cloud Smith, Jan. 21, 1832 Prudence Zerelda Smith, born Nov. 2, 1834 Louisiana Antoinette Smith, born March 5, 1837 Martha Eliza Smith, born Oct. 10, 1840 Josephine Olivia Smith, born Dec. 21, 1842 Angelina Victoria Smith, born Oct. 18, 1845 Robert Paul Smith, born March 26, 1848 Deaths: Robert Smith, died Feb. 29, 1812 Lewis Smith, died Oct. 15, 1815 Elizabeth, wife of Thomas Smith, died Sept. 26, 1821 Thomas Smith, died October 13, 1821 William Smith, died July 2, 1833, aged 83 years, 3 months and 25 days Martha Polly Smith, wife of William Smith, died Sept. 2, 1851, aged 72 years, 6 months and 8 days Josiah Ramsey Smith, died May 20, 1882 Barithenia Cloud Smith, died Mar. 25, 1889 This is from the Lawton Chapter, Oklahoma Genealogical records committee. I would imagine that is the chapter of DAR in Lawton, OK. The Book is Dated July 1958.

The second Albert Harrison Goodall (b 24 Dec 1897 d 17 Apr 1973), was a nephew to the two brothers above, born to their brother William Harden Goodall. Do you have a connection to these Goodalls?
