Does anyone know of a Peter TALLEY who died in 1814? The Descendants of William TALLEY says: Another unknown TALLEY was Peter TALLEY. Martin TALLEY administered Peter's inventory of possessions recorded in Wilson County Court Records. Will Book, p. 15, February 16, 1815, inventory done December 19, 1814. DEAR ROOTWALKER I AM TRYING TO FIND OUT WHERE JOHNSON HARVILL OF HICKMAN CO. TN. IS BURIED. I HAVE HIS DEATH ABOUT 1860 OR 1864. I'VE SEARCHED ALL THE CEMETARIE LISTINGS AND ETC. FOR THAT AERA, BUT NO LUCK. HE LISTED AS BEING BORN 1812 OR 1814. HIS SONS WERE HUGH AND NEWT. HE IS ON THE 1860 CENSUS, BUT AFTER THAT NOTHING. ALSO MY G-FATHER WAS WALTER ISSAC (IKE) FERRELL BORN IN SMITHVILLE TN. HIS FATHER WAS HORRACE FERRELL AND HIS MOTHER WAS JULIA COLVERT. IF ANY ONE OUT THERE HAS ANY INFO. I'D APPRECIATE I IT! THANKS ALOT AND GOD BLESS YOU ALL! BARBARA HARVILL
Stan, I was relooking at an excerpt from the Christian Advocate that Jonathan Smith has put together from the years 1874-1876. What a great job he has done. Is this indexed anywhere?? Can I ask the ROOTWALKER for a lookup on this? Ida
Check Tn State Library and Archives in Nashville or write to county courthouse. Either one may be a source - but you may have to pay for the documentation. Hello Sue, There won't be a birth certificate for your father since he was born prior to the time when the state of Tennessee required documentation of births. Do you know where your parents were married and the date? Do you have the date of your father's demise? Thanks for being part of the ROOTWALKER family. "From Sea To Shining Sea!" Hello Patricia, I'll look through some of the records from Smith and surrounding counties and see what I can find about John and Elizabeth. Hello Jenny, I believe it's the West Fork of Drakes Creek that goes up to the community of Shackle Island. There is a very old cemetery there at a Presbyterian Church. I'll take a run down that way in the near future and see if any people with your surname are buried there. Thanks for being part of the ROOTWALKER family. Stars and Bars Forever! Hello everyone, Ancestry.com has provided a map and images of the ships involved in the Battle of Mobile Bay, Alabama, which occurred in 1864. Tennesseeans from what is now the ROOTWALKER region were involved in this battle. One, my gggrandmother's brother, was on the CSS Tennessee, an ironclad Confederate Navy ram. He survived the War of Yankee Aggression.
