Thank you so much.....did the blurb give John Gaylon Paty's wife's name??? I do not know it. There is only one living person in my tiny family that even remembers J.G. Paty. She is in her 80's and J.G. and wife sent her a scrapbook when she was a child. Other than that he is a man of mystery. After leaving, suddenly, TN in the 1890's I stumbled on him selling real estate in Louisiana in 1900. Crazy!! Then all tracks are totally lost of him and wife other than this 1st cousin of my father's (his ONLY cousin too) that got a scrapbook. The scrapbook may have been mailed from St. Louis, MO. I can find no records of him in MO. So---excited to find him? You bet...any tidbit will do. I thank you so much. Yes, Cantrell Bethel (C.B.) and Nannie Odom are related. I do not have my data in front of me but if my memory services me right they are father and daughter. My father is a double Odom. C.B.'s one daughter married a Paty who begat my grandfather. The other daughter was mother to a gal that married a another Odom and they begat my grandmother. What a mess! Good morning Sherrie! Do I detect a little excitement in your typing? Dr. J. G. PATY is mentioned only one time in the "Woodbury Baptist Church Records, 1888 - 1906" book. The entry about Dr. J. G. PATEY is dated June 23, 1888, and mentions him and his wife as visitors and that they are from Smithville, Tennessee. The index of this book spells the name as "PATY" but the text of the book spells the name as "PATEY." I don't know which way he actually spelled his name. Nothing else is said about Mr. PATY in this book. As to Mr. C. B. ODOM. (Aren't there a lot of ODOM family members in Wilson County?) Mr. C. B. ODOM is mentioned in the same entry on June 23, 1888, as Mr. PATEY, and is the next name on the list of visitors after Mr. PATEY. Since this list of visitors is not alphabetical, I am wondering if these two men weren't next to each other in this meeting. The next name on the visitors list is Miss Nannie ODOM. Is she kin to C. B. ODOM? The second item that mentions Mr. C. B. ODOM is not dated but falls between items dated June 9, 1889, and July 13, 1889. Mr. C. B. ODOM is mentioned as having been placed on a committee to arrange a program for an upcoming Salem Association meeting to begin on the Friday night before the fifth Sunday in September 1889. This meeting was held at the Sycamore Church. There is nothing more about Mr. C. B. ODOM in this book. Is there anyone else I can look up for you from this book? Thank you for checking for Frank and Harriet's marriage. It may have possibly be in Wilson or Macon County. I thought I had checked Wilson...but not Macon. If you could put it in your archives folder and/or check Macon for me, I would appreciate it. As for the Montgomery Co. Cunninghams, there is a connection but I believe it goes all the way back to VA. Many Cunninghams were in the Revolutionary War and received land grants in TN and elsewhere...they are pretty scattered. I'm not aware of the Frank Cunningham of Montgomery Co. After his first wife died, he married Althea Stallcup and is buried in the Stallcup cemetery east of Hartsville. He died in 1896. Oops, sorry, not supposed to ramble on the list. Thanks again, David -----Original Message----- From: Yelowstone@aol.com [SMTP:Yelowstone@aol.com] Sent: Tuesday, February 18, 2003 6:21 AM To: TN-ROOTWALKER-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [ROOTWALKER] Smith Co. TN Lookups; 1845 - 1854 - CUNNINGHAM Good morning David, I'm sorry, but I don't find a marriage between Mr. Francis (Frank) CUNNINGHAM and Miss Harriet STONE in the "Smith County, Tennessee, Marriages, 1845 - 1854" book. The last entry in this book is in March 1854, so they could have been wed later in the year and their marriage would not be in this book. Would you like me to place this in our Archives Folder to see if we can find the marriage record for Frank and Harriet? When you mentioned Frank CUNNINGHAM, I recalled a photograph of several people after a hunting trip which includes, among others, my grandfather and another man named Frank CUNNINGHAM from Montgomery County, Tennessee. Are you connected to the CUNNINGHAM family of Montgomery County, Tennessee? Thanks for being part of the ROOTWALKER family. "This Land Is Our Land!" Good morning everyone, We have a large number of new people that have joined the ROOTWALKER family recently. There seems to be a question as to which counties in Tennessee the ROOTWALKER project covers so I thought it might be good to post this information again for those new folk. The ROOTWALKER project covers the 26 counties of northern middle Tennessee. You can find a map of the state of Tennessee, showing the ROOTWALKER counties highlighted in yellow, on the ROOTWALKER website. To see this map go to the ROOTWALKER website and click on the button found on the homepage that says "Rootwalker Counties." The address for the ROOTWALKER website is: www.rootwalker.com ROOTWALKER website I hope this clears up any questions about which counties are in the ROOTWALKER region. Good morning Glenna, I'll be happy to look for your family members in the "Woodbury Baptist Church Records, 1888 - 1906" book. Here is what I found about them in this book: ~~~~~~~~~~ BURNETT; No members of the BURNETT family are mentioned in this book. I also looked for them as BURNET, BURNETTE and BURNETTE. HOLLAND; No members of the HOLLAND family are mentioned in this book. PRATER; Although I know I have seen the PRATER name somewhere, recently, in our research, I don't find this name mentioned in this book, either. ~~~~~~~~~~ I wish there was at least something about these people in this book, but, unfortunately there isn't. Is there anyone else I can look for in this book for you? Thanks for being part of the ROOTWALKER family. God Bless America!
