I have been busy reducing hard files and the following caught my attention. My early known GUNTER ancestor was Mary Ann GUNTER that married Cornelius SULLIVAN. This was on a letter head from: SONS OF CONFEDERATE VETERANS and ORDER OF THE STARS AND BARS and addressed to an individual in Nashville. Captain Daniel Whitman Christmas day at Gunter's Landing 1829 Mr. Gunter a white man a venerable, patriachal gentleman his wife a full blooded Indian. Capt. Whitman invited with family to the feast day dinner. It was accepted a fine dinner was spread by two handsome Indian girls [side note: his girls]. Mr. Gunter presided.
