    1. CHESTNUT RIDGE AREA HISTORICAL NOTE
    2. Prosser Genealogy - Comcast
    3. Marshall County is in the four county area of our Chestnut Ridge Cousin research. The area that most of us are interested in was a part of Lincoln County prior to Marshall County being formed. If I remember correctly Marshall County was formed in 1832. Fishing Ford Road was an old trail from Nashville to Huntsville and then on to New Orleans. It was used as a trail to move slaves and then sometimes it was used to drive hogs to New Orleans. One of the most historical points of interest about this trail is that Andrew Jackson used this trail on his way to Alabama to war with the Creek Indians. He camped with his army at Glenn or Spout Spring about one half mile from Old Belfast. Today there are a number of cemeteries on the Old Fishing Ford Road where we have many family members buried. Among them are Head Springs, New Hope, Brooks and of course the Old Peter Luna Cemetery. Also on this road was located the McAdams Cemetery that was destroyed by a land owner that was also connected to this family. Not far east of the road is the Brents Cemetery where the original Brents settler of the area is buried. Bobby Prosser prossergenealogy@comcast.net
