    3. Happy New Year! Is there anything I can do to help with the reunion? And within the past month I have found more information on him. It is believed that he was a land surveyor from Aiken/Edgefield Counties of South Carolina before arriving in Lincoln County. There are also a lot of NORRIS family that are listed in this area. It is my belief that Howell JOHNSTON's wife Orphia NORRIS was also from there. There is an Ezekiel NORRIS mentioned in the area with a brother Robert. I do not know if this is the same Ezekiel NORRIS that settled Fayetteville or not. There is also a lot of HOWELL family in this area making me believe that possibly there was a HOWELL link on the paternal side. Also of interest in Edgefield County there is a community that is named Johnston. > > I have also found out more information on my WHORLEY line, carrying my Francis WHORLEY back to around 1743 from the Pennsylvania / Maryland area, then on to Bedford County, VA.. It is also thought by some family researchers that Francis was a grandson of Francis WORLEY that worked with William Penn in founding Philadelphia. There are many variations in the spelling of the name; WHORLEY, WHERLEY, WORLEY, WHERLEE. > > Another find for the year was that my gg grandfather Cornelius L. SULLIVAN was possibly a son of Joseph SULLIVAN and Temperance WICKER. It is believed that the W. initial stands for WICKER. It is also believed that Temperance was a daughter of Thomas Oscar WICKER SR. and Mary HESTER and Mary was the daughter of Robert H. HESTER and Rachael MCCALLISTER. The WICKER family was from New Kent County VA. and evidently they came to Chatham County NC. where so many of my surnames came from before coming on to Lincoln / Marshall County area. > > I now believe that the Orange County NC. area is possibly where my James PROSSER came from after looking at some of the early tax list of that county. > > So with these findings I feel like I have accomplished much this year. > > I look forward to seeing you June 10 & 11. > > Bobby Prosser > prossergenealogy@comcast.net > > > > > ============================== > Search Family and Local Histories for stories about your family and the > areas they lived.
