    2. Dortha, The McKinney on the SC Pendleton District 1790 census that I made note of was James McKinney: 1 free white males of 16 years & upwards, including heads of families; 2 free white males under 16 years; 2 free white females including heads of families; no free other free persons and 2 slaves. The other names on the same page that I made note of were John Maxwell, John Armstrong, and John Pogue. Hope this helps. Julia

    3. Julia, Wonder if this is the James McKinney and wife, Sarah Pinson who were in LCT when he made out his will? He moved to LCT in 1832 according to my records. They were Quakers. At one time I really thought he might be the father of my William McKinney. I finally decided that was not so. There is a William McKinney that witnessed his will and also G W Sawyers. They live near each other on the census for Lincoln Co. Elizabeth Pigg Wakefield McKinney, William's wife, had three Wakefield children when they married in 1840. Sarah (Sallie) married a son of G W Sawyers, Gaylon M (G M) Sawyers. Thank you for your time. 2. Could someone identify who the J.M. Brents who is buried at the old Talley Cemetery? I saw a picture of his tombstone on the CHESTNUT RIDGE web page. I am searching for a James Brent who married my great great grandmother, Martia Stacy Douthit Ellis Brent. She married James Brent in around 1854 and they lived in the Petersburg area. They were living there in the 1860 Lincoln County census, and two of her sons from her first marriage to James Ellis were living with them. I have found her burial site and it is in the Buchanan Cemetery. James Brent's grave is not there. I know nothing about him and can find no information on him. She was born in 1807 and died in 1885. Any information on either of these two would be greatly appreciated. Joyce Park Riggs

    3. Gerry: I am just like you, I do not have any direct link to "Old Peter Luna," but his descendants intermarried with distant cousins descendants and etc. It seems like everything that happened in the early days around the Talley Station, Cane Creek area in the early days evolved around him. He was a colorful character indeed. I saw Jane and wanted to get the book, but she did not have anymore and was not going to have a reprint. In everything that I have seen in print about him you see so many names that are from the area. The other night when I was looking at the material on the internet I even saw reference to my great grandfather. I copied off the information and am meaning to study it after I get through preparing for a presentation I have to make next Sunday (7 th Dec). I have another story or two about him I will share with you on a later post. It was sent to me some time ago. Bobby Prosser prossergenealogy@comcast.net

    1. [TN-CHESTNUTRIDGECOUSINS] Joel and Ambrose Foster
    2. The two above appear side by side on the same page of the 1790 SC, Abbeville District Census. Foster Ambrose 2 free white males of 16 yrs & upwards, including heads of families; 3 free white males under 16 yrs; 2 free white females including heads of families; no free persons or slaves Foster Joel 1 free white males of 16 yrs etc.; no males under 16 and 1 free white female etc.; no free persons or slaves On the 1790 SC Newberry District Census, 3 pages over is..... Foster Joel 1 free white males etc; 1 free white males under 16 and 1 free white females including heads of families, no free persons or slaves. I find it most interesting that in the 1790 SC Pendleton, Abbeville and Newberry Districts are these LCT surnames Armstong, Gambel, Harkins, King, Moore, Stephenson, Lauderdale, Burns Holley, Marlow, Wright, Renfrow, Maxwell , McKinny, Pogue, Brown and Foster. Many of them appearing on the same page. Julia

I believe that she is correct in all these links. Can anyone out there verify this information? In researching my Joe S. Simmons I was told that he had a sister that married Thomas M. Harkins. They are on the 1880 census and Robert is listed as 1 year old. Thomas's mother is Caldonia E. Harkins and it lists her mother living with them as Martha Simmons. I believe this to be Martha Jane Davidson Simmons who married James Caswell Simmons son of James Anderson Simmons and Hannah S. ? My Joe S. Simmons was married to Virginia Ella McAdams. Her grandmother was also a Henrietta Davidson. I haven't got it all tied together yet but hoping to find more information. I believe that E. is for Ella which would be the name and about same age as on the 1860 census for the family of James Caswell Simmons. He was a blacksmith as was my grandfather Arthur Carroll Simmons. I am hoping to find an 1870 census that lists the family of James Caswell as it may clear up some of my questions. He is not on the 1880 census and I know he died in 1892 so I am wondering what happen to him? Jesus is my rock! I am formally a Wilson, my great grandfather is William Robert Lee Wilson from Giles and Hardin CO TN. My great great grandfather is William Granderson (Grandison) Wilson from Giles CO TN. His wife Susan Dickey Wilson remarried in the 1870's because my great great grandfather never came back from the Civil War. She remarried John Weeks of Giles CO TN and later they lived in Hardin CO TN. I have found some possiblities of William Grandison's parents but have not been able to prove anything past William Grandison. Could you put me in contact with the Wilson's so I can check if there is any link. My husband and I were hoping to travel to TN in October but our plans are not final. Thank you for inviting us to the reunion. I will wait for your answer to the above. I am a committed Christian and would love to know if any of my ancestors knew Jesus as their personal saviour.
