Sherry I have not been able to get my printer to work since I got home. I put in new color ink except yellow and it showed 20%. I went thru the book and could not get anything to work. COUSINS: Bettye and I attended the meeting of the Tennessee Historical Society this past Thursday evening. The guest speaker at the meeting was Peter Krass. Mr. Krass is a well renowned author of many books including [1]Carnegie, [2] The Book of Business Wisdom, [3] The Book of Leadership Wisdom, [4] The Book of Investing Wisdom. The book that he has just had released is "Blood & Whiskey" / "The Life And Times Of Jack Daniel". I have just started reading it and there is a good history of Moore & Lincoln County in the book. There are many references of different communities and people of the area. It is well footnoted for source documentation. A good picture is painted of how our pioneer ancestors settled in the area and made their livelihood. The price of the book is $24.95 plus tax and is available at Davis - Kidd bookstores. They have placed, on-line, 3.2 million records for veterans buried at 120 national cemeteries since the Civil War. It is supposed to include the VA's gravesite navigator, which includes names, DOB, DOD, military service dates, service branch and rank, if known, cemetery info, and grave location in the cemetery. The VA will withhold some info, such as next of kin, for privacy reasons. They will be updating the website on a continuing basis. Cora I have found out from Charlyne was the daughter of Anna Wright Stephenson sister to Mary Julia. Charlyne found my name on Will Johnson's world connect and emailed me. She lives in OK and was so happy to find a relative even though she is from the 2nd marriage of Anna's husband Samuel T. Stephenson after Anna died. She flew from her home in El Paso, TX to Nashville in order to attend last fall's reunion in Shelbyville. She passed away on February 14 in TX. Chestnut Ridge Cousins Announce 2004 Reunion Plans Family research and family treasures will be the focus of the third annual Chestnut Ridge Cousins reunion on June 11-12 in Lynchburg, Tenn. "We have changed our reunion time from fall to early summer to make it possible for more family groups to attend," said Bobby Prosser, of Dickson, president of the association. All sessions will be held at the Masonic Lodge. "We hope everyone with links to Chestnut Ridge will mark their calendars and join us as we learn more about our pioneer ancestors. This is a great opportunity, too, to bring those 'mystery photographs' we all have-and maybe this year find out just who that unknown cousin is," Prosser said. A barbecue supper and informal reception kick off the reunion on Friday night, when Bill Thomas, former Moore County executive, will welcome the group to Lynchburg and the Lodge. After the Saturday morning business meeting, Russell O'Neal, past president of the Lincoln County Genealogical Society, will share the results of his research of his own families in the area. With no formal program scheduled for the afternoon, members are invited to display family photographs and heirlooms and to exchange family trees and other information. Dr. Patricia West, a Ridge descendant and a website designer in St. Louis, Mo., will be the featured speaker at the Saturday night dinner. "I must be kin to nearly everyone in Middle Tennessee," West said. Her talk, "True or False? Verifying Your Sources," will offer guidelines on using the Internet to uncover genealogical information as well as ways to make sure that the "facts" uncovered are true. The Chestnut Ridge Cousins association, with about 75 members from 15 states, is open to everyone. "We especially welcome descendants of the pioneer families who settled in the early 1800s in the hills and hollows where Lincoln, Bedford, Marshall, and Moore counties come together," Prosser said.
