    3. Dear Julia, According to my History of Bedford Co. Tn,.On May 24, 1784 , 9what is now middle Tn ) the Capitol was in East Tn. In 1808, the Tn. legislature met at Kingston and formed a new County called Bedford( 2000 miles) The first courts were held at the home of Mrs. Ann Payne until 1809. Then Lincoln Co. was original a part of Bedford. The above information would probably conflict with the birth of Sarah Armstrong b. abt. 1761 in Shelbyville. Maybe it was in the wilderness. We plan on celebrating our 200th year of Shelbyville in 2007. 1. CRC JUNE 10 & 11 MEETING
    2. Prosser Genealogy - Comcast
    3. Cousins: The speakers have been set for the June meeting. The speakers are Don Mills with Walsworth Publishing Company and he will share with us about the Family History Books of Lincoln, Moore and Giles Counties. Don will speak on Friday evening June 10. Our June 11 morning speaker will be Paulette Carpenter the list manager for Marshall and Mary Counties. Paulette has also done a lot of work for the TNGENWEB project. Paulette is well versed in what is available from state archives and she will give us some pointers on what might be available from there. Our Saturday evening speaker will be Don Jeter. Don is president of the Marshall County Historical Society and has done a lot of research on land grants of the area including grants from the Petersburg area up to the Bedford County line and some of the other sections of Southeastern Marshall County. Don has a keen knowledge of the area. With these speakers and the time frames that they are to speak there should be time for intermingling and time to exchange family information. I look forward to seeing you and I hope each of you will work with me in an effort to promote this endeavor. If you have not made reservations at Henry Horton State Park I would urge you to get that in as soon as possible. This is a beautiful park. Bettye and I stayed there during the passing of my father and the accommodations are great. I worked with Faye Street in setting this up, her hours there are varied, so I am sure there is someone in reservations that would be able to assist you. The telephone number there at the park is [931] 364 2222. When you call reference CHESTNUT RIDGE COUSINS. Again I look forward to seeing you in June and I need all the help that I may be able to get from each "COUSIN" in promotion of this event. Bobby Prosser prossergenealogy@comcast.net

Jim and I were trying to find out more information on Rhina Deal who married David Armstrong. They were my great grandparents. I surely will miss the wonderful heart felt and uplifting emails he would send me. We did not break through our brick wall but I will keep working on it. I have all CRC postal mailing address if anyone would like Jim Deals. 1. CRC - YEARS AGO - FOUR COUNTY HISTORY
    2. Prosser Genealogy - Comcast
    3. The first explorations into the four county area was made by Captain Jonathan Drake and Colonel Samuel Barton. During the fall of 1783 these two set out on foot from the French Lick Station [present day Nashville] walking through thick heavy foliage and into the Indian territory. They were followed shortly thereafter by a group that was headed by Alexander Greer of East Tennessee. The land that was available at this time was through "The Land - Grab Act of 1783-1784". The Land - Grab Act of 1783 - 1784 made land available in Southern Middle Tennessee from basically south of present day Nashville to the present day Alabama State Line. The western boundary was the Tennessee River and the Cumberland Mountain area was the eastern boundary. To the North of the Nashville area was the North Carolina Military Reservation. 1. Re: [TN-CHESTNUTRIDGECOUSINS] Publication / Middle Tennessee Crossroads
    2. Bobby, I would also write the Lincoln CO. Archives, 1000-B West Washington St., Fayetteville, TN 37334. It would not hurt as there maybe duplicate copies there. Sherrie Tomerlin at the Archives has been most helpful to me. It really is the best deal in town as they only charge 25 cents a copy plus expense to mail. I have purchased copies of my grandparents (James Franklin Wright & Willie Etta Armstrong) marriage certificate and bond, as well as many other surnames. Also I received the guardian papers for my grandmother Willie Etta Armstrong and her siblings David, Isabella, and James. Their uncle Ephrain Jefferson King was appointed their guardian. Julia In a message dated 1/13/2005 6:57:56 PM Pacific Standard Time, prossergenealogy@comcast.net writes: << Cousins: Are any of you familiar with a publication called Middle Tennessee Crossroads? I know that it was published in 1981, but I do not know if it is still in publication or not. There has been some information passed on to me of a court case in 1845/46 that was told about in a 1981 publication involving some of my ancestors. L. A. Sanders and wife Sarah Petty, William Petty [my line] Nathan Petty's children's guardian A. S. Foster [Nathan was a brother of William & Sarah] were all children of Bethany Petty daughter of Joab Bagley. These children along with Bethany's sisters are in a lawsuit against Richmond Campbell & David McGahey. David McGahey was appointed administrator of the estate of his grandfather Joab Bagley in 1845. In 1846 McGahey filed a bill to sell certain slaves belonging to the estate. The suit was filed in 1870. The case was supposedly heard on 5/22/1871. This would have been some 25 years after the original bill to sell originated. The case was heard in Marshall County. I wonder if these court records are archived anywhere?
