Dear Cousins, Unfortunately I won't be able to be at our Reunion next month. Can someone out there PLEASE volunteer to audio tape and video record all business sessions and speakers ? Perhaps someone could tape and another could do the video. If you can, please let Bobby PROSSER or this list know as soon as possible. I had really been looking forward to being at Henry Horton Park and in Marshall Co and making new genealogical friends. George's paternal gm, Margaret Caroline "Maggie" BUCKINGHAM, her five sisters, and one brother were b and grew up just back of H H Park 1863 - 1895 and some are buried near there in Daniel or Hopper Cemeteries. Unfortunately, my mother's home county, Oxford Co, ME, is having their major event for the celebration of its Bicentennial on June 11th. Most of her ancestors were there in the late 1700's, having moved there following service in the Rev War in MA. This is a once in a lifetime event so I want to be a part of it. I know you'll have a wonderful time this year and I will miss being with my in-laws and their numerous cousins. However, I shall be looking forward to being with you next year. Janice
Bobbie, I see from the article you wrote for the Moore CO., book you have Jane Prosser b 1825, daughter of James Prosser and Frances Richardson. Did I read it right? Do you have any more information on Jane and Joe? Do you know who Joe Wright's parents were? Did Jane and Joe migrate from Middle, TN to Ak, MO or TX? Cousin Julia

Cousin Polly, I will be in Fayetteville on Monday June 6. Are you going to be the one in charge of setting up Friday night and Sat.? If so I would be more than happy to help. I am sure there are other cousins that are going to attend that would be happy to do what ever they can to help you. Please let we cousins know where we can be of the most use. Cousin Julia
1961 may be Sherry's birth year, but definitely NOT the year of her marriage. Sherry is a SPRING CHICKEN ! Sorry I missed your anniversary, Sherry ! You know you have my best wishes for a wonderful year ahead for both of you. I've been a bad "girl" of late and have been working on my mother's maternal PENLEY line in Maine. 1961 was a GREAT and HORRIBLE year for me. First husband, David Durham SEDGWICK, from Montrose, NY and I were married 2 Sept 1961 in my home town, Boothbay Harbor, Lincoln Co, ME. BUT, on Oct 17th we learned Dave had acute leukemia and Dave died 9 January 1962 (just 4 days before my 20th birthday) at Duke Hospital, Durham, NC. We were students at Duke University. Dave and George (B FREEMAN, my late husband 1940-2000) were fraternity brothers at Duke. When George and I were married 13 June 1970 in Daytona Beach, FL, Dave's parents were the only ones who had been at my first wedding who were there. They drove all the way back down to FL from their summer home in Wilmington, NY (near Whiteface Mt and Lake Placid) to attend our wedding. Both of my parents had died in the interim (Mumma in 1964 and Daddy in 1968). And I am an only child as was George. Janice
Lanny and Louise Bradley. I am sorry this is late. But HAPPY BELATED ANNIVERSARY This was your 44th right? The year 1961 was a very good year for Frank and I were married that year as well. Cousin, Julia
Saturday May 7 is Cousins Sherry and Mark's Anniversary. HAPPY ANNIVERSARY to the two of you. How long have you been married? Cousin, Julia
Reading over the email from Nita on the "Old Northwest Texas" books. The church was Turkey Creek of Saluda Baptist Church. I found an address for a chuch by that name in Ware Shoals, SC but their phone # did not work. I have copy and paste Nita's email to me so that those of you on this list can contribute. Julia Nita email From a book "Old Northwest Texas", mainly for Navarro County, there is reference to a group in South Carolina where Medlins and Ambrose Foster and relatives--Armstrong, Hall, Smith, Gibson and Roberts--were among the first members of the Turkey Creek of Saluda Baptist Church about 1785, later the families were living in Bedford/Lincoln area along the panhandle of LCT adjoining Bedford (Sinking Creek and Little Cane Creek area) where they were members of the charter New Hope Baptist Church, Fosters in the old Hannah's Gap Baptist Church. By 1822 some of them were in Marion County, Alabama, with some settling in Missouri--Cole/Platte/Moniteau counties. Medlin was the first to move to Tarrant County 18654, joined by Anderson, Hallford, Malone, Gibson, etc where they again were members of Baptist churches there. Their tradition was that an entire Baptist church made to the move to Texas. Before 1860, more from Tarrant, Hays/Travis counties moved to California where they again es! tablished Baptist churches.Other names were: Sorrels, Harris, Allen, Leterel, Henry, James, Phillips, Freeman (usually a preacher), Hodges, King, Leonard, etc. Question: Some of the LCT McNutt and Medlins were living around Lawrence Co., MO with Piland variations by 1860. Some of my folks from two other lines were in that area of MO before making it north central Texas by Oct. 1853--seems that some of the folks intermarried (difficult to get some of these different surnames separate because of these 1700's SC families who went to Alabama did not go to MO/Arkansas, but went straight to Texas. A Gilbert line seems to have the same problem--
In the "LCT Pioneers" Vol. 2, #1 page 12 is the following from the minutes dated "Third Saturday in June 1825" for the BALL FORK BAPTIST CHURCH OF CHRIST. ...reception of member received Sister REBECKA GORDON by letter from South Carolina Pendleton Dis SITVAM CHURCH ..... Jane Waller questioned the spelling of the name of the Church. I believe it should have been SALUDA. I have done a googles search and found the Saluda Baptist Association in SC. They were not able to help me but gave me a phone # to call. However when I went to GENFORM for the state of SC I found this post dated Dec 23, 1998 "All of the records for Baptist Churches within the Saluda Baptist Association are held at Furman University in Greenville, SC." "You must call for an appointment: Call Furnam University Library." So the membership list plus minutes for the Church our Armstrong's, Fosters and others belonged to may be at the Furnam University. Someone want to make a trip?:-) Julia
Bobby wrote to Julia: Re: "Ma was raised by a BURNS family that is linked to CRC cousin, Jean Cosby." Bobby just wanted you to know that the Andrew BURNS who married abt 1848 Eveline MITCHELL PERRY was the step father Mary Ann PERRY b 1839, wife of Killis FREEMAN. Mary Ann's parents were Nathan PERRY and Eveline MITCHELL. Both sons of Andrew BURNS and Eveline MITCHELL: Andrew BURNS b abt 1849 and Thomas Jefferson b aft 1850 Census, were the younger half brothers of Mary Ann PERRY and both were Jean COSBY's two grandfathers. Jean and I can't find Eveline MITCHELL's family and I can't find Nathan PERRY's family. There's an 1838 LCT marriage record for Nathan and Eveline, and the 3 (Nathan, Eveline, and Mary Ann) are in the 1840 LCT Census, but nothing more or less on Nathan PERRY. I have absolutely no clue about what happened to Nathan PERRY. The next record I've found is the 1848 marriage record for Andrew BURNS and Eveline PERRY, then the 1850 LCT Census for the Andrew BURNS family showing Andrew 53, Evaline 37, young Andrew 1, and Mary Ann PERRY 11. Julia, I cant swear to it, I'm going to go back & check, but I thought I saw a Soloman Wright on the census on the Warren County Georgia site that I was telling Bobby about. Pascal Crenshaw (Ester's father-in-law)is listed on the 1820 census as having a wife & two male children under 10 yrs old. Thanks for the info. e -----Original Message----- From: Julia Molitz [mailto:jmolitz@cox.net] Sent: Tuesday, May 03, 2005 5:31 PM To: TN-CHESTNUTRIDGECOUSINS-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [TN-CHESTNUTRIDGECOUSINS] "Old Northwest Texas" Cousins, Bobby, John, Emily and all. (Vicki, jump in as well) Below is part of an email from a fellow Wright researcher, Nita. Nita, Will Johnson, Jim Danley, myself and others have been working on Wrights of LCT and related families for some time. Will Johnson has an extensive GEDCOM on rootsweb with many LCT families for he and Jim are researching all Middle TN families. Nita lives in TX so she is able to use local resources to research LCT families that migrated to TX. She found the 2 Vol's mentioned below. I did a search for the books printed around 1983. But there are only two copies available to the public. So I do not think that we could get them from inter library lone. However Nita has agreed to copy the pages that would relate to our SC families and send to me. John and Bobby, after looking at the Descendants of your James Armstrong that John sent to me I believe more and more that your Armstrong's are related to mine for as far as I can tell there were only 2 Armstrong families to migrate from SC to LCT. My Thomas Armstrong who was born in York, PA 1755 and your Mary Jane Armstrong. At first I thought that Mary Jane and Thomas were siblings but after looking at what John sent I believe that there is a good chance that your James Armstrong b 1712 and my Thomas's grandfather Joseph b. 1711 were brothers. I know nothing about Joseph or John the father of Thomas. Only got those two names from Vicki Moore. Another family that came to LCT more than likely with our Armstrong's was Thomas Cummins and wife Esther Armstrong. Esther could be a missing daughter to Thomas Armstrong. Charles Schull has that line as well as other Armstrong researchers that I have run into. I have two books "Pendleton District, SC Deed 1790-1806" and Pendleton District and Anderson County, SC Wills, Estates, & Legal Records". I find Mary Jane Armstrong Foster, Joel Lewis Foster, Thomas Armstrong, Moore, Gants, Crenshaw, and other LCT surnames in these books. Emily, Will Johnson now has Solomon Wright as the undocumented father of Esther, James, Griffin, Elizabeth (who married William Cone but believe the name was Crane), Mary Ann (married John Harbison)George Washington. The mother Annie was born in SC as was Griffin. Cannot remember the other female off the top of my head. There also was a Joseph Wright who I believe was the other son of Solomon. Solomon had 4 sons and 4 daughters. All of the above were members of the Mt. Hebron Cumberland Church at Norris Creek. Exception is Griffin for I cannot find his name on the membership list. But some of the above could have been Baptist before the Mt Hebron Cumberland Presbyterian church was started. Elizabeth Wright married to William Cone 11 Feb 1840 was married by John Gilbert. Also John Gilbert signed the pension application of Thomas Armstrong for his Rev. War Pension. John Gilbert was a Baptist Preacher but he helped organize the Mt. Hebron Cumberland Presbyterian Church at No! rris Creek. Emily, Esther Wright Crenshaw was a Baptist before she crossed over to the Mt. Hebron Cumberland. So hopefully the info from these Vol.s will help with putting these families together. Julia From a book "Old Northwest Texas", mainly for Navarro County, there is reference to a group in South Carolina where Medlins and Ambrose Foster and relatives--Armstrong, Hall, Smith, Gibson and Roberts--were among the first members of the Turkey Creek of Saluda Baptist Church about 1785, later the families were living in Bedford/Lincoln area along the panhandle of LCT adjoining Bedford (Sinking Creek and Little Cane Creek area) where they were members of the charter New Hope Baptist Church, Fosters in the old Hannah's Gap Baptist Church.
Bobby, Thought you had an Armstrong line as well. John Foster has given me a lot of info on his Foster/Armstrong line and I am trying to connect our two Armstrongs Julia ----- Original Message ----- From: "Prosser Genealogy - Comcast" <prossergenealogy@comcast.net> To: <TN-CHESTNUTRIDGECOUSINS-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, May 03, 2005 4:49 AM Subject: Re: [TN-CHESTNUTRIDGECOUSINS] Foster and Armstrong > Julia: > > I am not as familiar with my FOSTER linage as I would like to be.
