    1. BAGLEY'S OF CHESTNUT RIDGE
    2. Prosser Genealogy - Comcast
    3. This is a continuation on the BAGLEY family out of "The Ridge". The previous post was centered around John R. BAGLEY son of Elisha BAGLEY and Sarah Frances WILKINS. John R. BAGLEY and Martha Eliza DRIVER had one son named Robert Driver BAGLEY that married Nancy Caldonia DAVIDSON. Robert Driver BAGLEY and Nancy Caldonia DAVIDSON were the parents of Charles Arthur BAGLEY born 12 September, 1878 in Lincoln County. He died 22 December, 1962 and is buried in Beachwood Cemetery in Marshall County, TN. Charles Arthur DRIVER married Ada Arlene PETTUS. She was born 03 December, 1881 in Lincoln County. Robert and Nancy settled in Marshall County. Robert attended Chestnut Ridge Elementary and Chestnut Ridge High School. My question is, does anyone know where the Chestnut Ridge Elementary and Chestnut Ridge High School may have been located? A little personal history that I know of Charles Arthur BAGLEY is as follows. His daughter was Ibbie James Velma BAGLEY that married William Edgar GREEN of Marshall County. Edgar was a dairy farmer, owned W. E. Green & Son Dry Cleaners and W.E. Green realty business in Lewisburg. Their son Tom GREEN was a former mayor of Lewisburg. She was very dedicated to Marshall County Historical & Genealogy Research. Bobby Prosser prossergenealogy@comcast.net

    2. My nephew, a WOODARD, is a descendant of Elisha BAGLEY and Sarah Frances WILKINS. I worked on his Lincoln Co. TN. lineage years ago. I'll check the records and see if I can add any BAGLEY data. Pat Trask in Calif. In a message dated 9/19/2005 7:23:55 P.M. I am related to Lisa through the Prosser and the Bagley families of "The Ridge". Her Bagley connection is by Elisha BAGLEY that married Sarah Frances WILKINS. 1. RIDGE HAPPENINGS
    2. Prosser Genealogy - Comcast
    3. I recently spoke to the Moore County Historical Society. In attendance at the meeting was Lisa Martin. Lisa is working hard to get the old "Prosser Home Place" on the century farm list. I am related to Lisa through the Prosser and the Bagley families of "The Ridge". Her Bagley connection is by Elisha BAGLEY that married Sarah Frances WILKINS. Elisha BAGLEY was a brother to my 3rd great grandfather Joab BAGLEY. Elisha BAGLEY'S son John R. BAGLEY was a large landowner in Marshall and Lincoln county. John R. BAGLEY was born circa 1803 in Chatham Co. NC.. He died January 1854 and is buried at Old Charity Cemetery in Lincoln County. In 1824 he was married to Martha Eliza DRIVER, Petersburg, Lincoln Co.. Their children all born in Lincoln Co. are: [1]William H. BAGLEY born ca. 1828, died 1863 in Lincoln Co.. He died during the Civil War and his name is on the Memorial Statue in Lewisburg Courtyard. He was a farmer and married Martha A. LEFTWICH in 1848. Martha was born in 1832 in Tennessee. They had the following children [a.] William, born in Lincoln Co. and he worked with the Primitive Baptist Church in Chestnut Ridge. [b.] James [no information], [c.] Winnie born in Chestnut Ridge, Lincoln Co., died Lincoln Co. married John RICHARDSON, [d.] Mollie married James RABY. [2] Sarah Wilkins BAGLEY born around 1831, died 1901 and is buried in Old Charity Cemetery, Lincoln County, TN. married Carroll KING before 1850. They had the following children [a.] John KING [no children], [b.] Leander KING married Jesse COTHRAN and they had six children, some moved to Texas, Oklahoma and some stayed in Moore and Lincoln County. [3] Eliza Jane BAGLEY, born in Lincoln Co. around 1834, died Lincoln Co. married A. MARSH. Their children were: [a.] Martha MARSH married William TALLEY, [b.] Nancy MARSH married Burt TALLEY, [c.] Joel MARSH married Joel LUNA. [4] Martha BAGLEY born 1836 married Mr. DUNCAN and moved to Oklahoma. [5] Rebecca BAGLEY, born 1838 died Fayetteville, Lincoln Co. married Berry [James Asberry] PROSSER 31 May 1848. Their children were: [a.] James PROSSER, [b.] John PROSSER, no children, lived in Chestnut Ridge [ at the old Prosser Home Place], [c.] Luther PROSSER b. Lincoln Co.; d. Fayetteville, Lincoln Co.; [d.] Walter PROSSER born and died in Lincoln Co.; [e.] Ezella PROSSER, married Will RICHARDSON in Lincoln Co. [6] Susan BAGLEY, born around 1842 and married Mr. KING, no children. [7] James Marsh BAGLEY, born 30 June, 1844; died 02 April 1910 and buried in Melson Cemetery, Lincoln Co. married Susan WASHBURN, no children [8] Robert Driver BAGLEY, born 18 Dec. 18, 1847 died 13 December, 1913 in Marshall Co. married Nancy Caldonia DAVIDSON. John R. BAGLEY was mentioned many times in Marshall and Lincoln early history as a large landowner. He was deeded land on Cane Creek 26 July 1837 from his father by "love and affection" He witnessed many land sales and bought land in Chestnut Ridge in 1850 and lived there until his death. [This may have been the "Old Prosser Home Place"] He gave land to Asa Holland VOLLERS School Commission between Belfast and Petersburg. We wish Lisa success in getting the "Old Prosser Home Place" listed on the Century Farm Registry. Situated on the property is one of the two PROSSER Cemeteries in "The RIDGE'. This is just a little information that I will share with you about some of our early BAGLEY & PROSSER families of "THE RIDGE". I hope you also saw some other surnames that you can identify as early pioneer families. Bobby Prosser prossergenealogy@comcast.net
