    3. Hi Pat I found Joseph Burgess in the 1870 TN census. I can't figure out how they ever indexed him as it does not look like Burgess but the wife and kids fit.     3. Hi Dee, My gosh, you are remarkable! I just finished mentioning to Bonnie, the wife, that I had no idea how you found this census. She says that it looks like German "S's". In any case, this is exactly the family I was looking for. I now know the town and county and am gradually closing in on them. Thank you so much for the great response. Can I do anything in return?
