I am hoping that SKS will be willing to help me locate the parents of one Sterlin COHIN, who per the 1880 census of Miller Co. MO, was b.c. 1859 in TN. Don't have a county name, unfortunately, but his wife's name in MO was Sarah M., b. 1858 MO, and the children were named: Amanda A., James C., and Lucy J. all b. MO starting in 1876. The surname may also appear as: CONE, COHEN, COHAN, COEN, KOEN, COIN, etc.. I would not pester anyone for such a thing except that I've been searching for my Grt Grandmother, Mandy Ada ("CONE") Briggs for almost 40 years; she was orphaned when very young and did not know anything about her own parents(wasn't even sure of her last name). She married in Coleman Co. TX in 1890, but she was brought to TX(from somewhere)allegedly by "missionaries", and there are stories that she was orphaned as the result of an Indian attack on a wagon train. I am thinking that this Amanda A. above may be her, but I need more information before I leap to any more disappointing and incorrect conclusions.:-/ I know that without a county, I am asking for a lot here, but this is all I have. Thanks again, Larry D.H. Coats
I have the 1860 TN census books and I read all COHEN, COHAN, COHIN, KOHEN, COEN, KOEN, COIN, CONE households but did not find your Sterlin. Sorry I couldn't help. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Larry Coats" <larcoa@aspermont.esc14.net> To: <TN-CENSUS-LOOKUP-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, 04 March, 2004 9:39 AM Subject: [TN-CENSUS-LOOKUP] 1860 TN census lookup request/COHIN | I am hoping that SKS will be willing to help me locate the parents of one Sterlin COHIN, who per the 1880 census of Miller Co.
