Mary, The 1920 census index is by head of household only so I have to go to 1930 to see if I can find his parents. There is a Clyde Carter in Knox Co in 1930. He's shown as age 13. I'm not sure if that's really his age or not as his parents do not have a child in 1920. I'm thinking that this Clyde may be adopted. But if he's not, the odds are pretty good that his middle name could be Edward.
