    2. Thanks for the response, Bill. All the info I have on Frances is that he was the son of Susan Wisdom Wall. Susan lived with relatives in most of the censuses, mainly with sister, Judith. Susan died in TN ca 1910. I appreciate the information. Jim

    3. Liz, I did some searches for this on Monday but have been having server problems and just got back on line. Before 1850 the census index is listed by head of household only, so Rebecca's name would not appear, probably until she was married to Samuel COOPER/1850; or if she became head of household in 1840. And prior to 1850 the place of birth was not listed for anyone, just ages, so it makes it hard to know if you have the right family or where they were born. Checked the 1820 TN index for SHORT, there are 24 listings in various counties. In 1830 TN there are 44 listings for SHORT, none name Rebecca. In 1840 there is a listing for Rebecca SHORT-it doesn't show place of birth but approximate year of birth-1780-1790/50-60yrs, so a little too old for yours. 3. Don't know if anybody gave you this one: 1870 Lawrence Co, TN, dist 6 Susan Wall 35 TN Francis M. Wall 16 TN They are living near the same people as in 1880 - i.e. a couple of Wisdom families. They appear to be listed as black although it could be that the censustaker just got carried away with his ditto marks. I don't find Francis in 1880, 1900 or 1910. The most likely middle name would be Marion and I searched for that too. There is a Frank Wall in Illinois about the right age and born TN. Do you have any information on how long Francis might have lived? 3. Liz, All the census records before 1850 are by head of household only so you would have to know the first name of Mr Skinner to find them in 1840 and then you couldn't be positively sure it was the right family unless he had a unique first name. I did check the marriage records online and see no marriage records for Rebecca. 3. Hi Bill, I am sorry about not being more clear. I have been on this family for several days steady and I guess I think everyone should be too. :) I would like to find Rebecca (Short) SKINNER in the East before 1846. UNKNOWN SKINNER husband's name with her and the children all together. My pioneer book has her with two children for sure---Guilford L. Skinner b. 9-2-1842 and William b. 1844 in Green County, Indiana. When they got to Oregon for the 1850 census they both went by Cooper and then as adults appeared to be back to SKINNER. When she married Samuel Cooper in ILL. in 1846 they both had children and came by wagon train to Oregon. I would like to have the verification that these are her kids and if she had any more SKINNER'S before they were married and set off for the west. Of course, they had their own children after they arrived, so you can probably guess about the descrepancies on the information trail. Thanks so much for taking an interest. Best Wishes, Liz PS Don't hesitate to ask questions as I know this may be confusing. 2. Thank you so much, Becky. You really went the extra mile for me and gave me lots of info that I didn't have. All you have done has really helped some of the pieces to come together for me. I am still wondering where the name Wilson is coming from. It hasn't shown up as anyone's last name, but it was David Wilson Brimer's middle name as well as John Wilson Brimer of Hamilton County that I had asked for a lookup on a while back. I don't know the connection between David and John, so that's what makes me so curious about the Wilson name. 3. Marjorie, Given the way the name has been indexed down through the years, I think this is Houston's family in 1850. Let me know what you think. 1720/1776 John D. BRIMN, 40, M, Farmer, NC Laura, 40, F, NC Houston, 14, M, TN Andrew, 11, M, TN David, 9, M, TN Harriet, 6, F, TN Samuel, 5, M, TN Martha, 1, F, TN ********* In 1860, this family is indexed as BRINNER (the actual page reads Brimer), except Andrew, who is indexed correctly as Brimer. 2. I would like to thank all on this list that have helped me so much over the past few months. The information that you have provided me has been enormously beneficial. That said, I, again, would like to request your help. I am interested in any information, especially names of any children, of David Wilson Brimer and wife, Ida Belle England, of Knox County, TN. They were married in 1886 in Knox County. David Wilson (D.W.) Brimer was b. abt. 1867 in Jefferson County, TN. His parents, I think, were Houston Brimer and Elizabeth Campbell. I would like to know if any records confirm this, and what were the names of David's siblings? David Wilson Brimer built a house in Knox County, TN in 1909 and d. abt. 1920 in Knox County. Ida Belle was b. abt. 1868 and d. abt. 1953. Thanks, as always, Marjorie
