Hi Pat I found Joseph Burgess in the 1870 TN census. I can't figure out how they ever indexed him as it does not look like Burgess but the wife and kids fit. Hi Michele, Yep, that is exactly the family I was looking for. Thank you so much for the prompt reply. Can I do anything in return? Hi Dee, My gosh, you are remarkable! I just finished mentioning to Bonnie, the wife, that I had no idea how you found this census. She says that it looks like German "S's". In any case, this is exactly the family I was looking for. I now know the town and county and am gradually closing in on them. Thank you so much for the great response. Can I do anything in return? Looking for the family of JOE BURGESS (1834 TN) / LUCY (1835 TN) in the 1870 TN Census. Believed to be living in BEDFORD, LINCOLN, or OBION County. Children: John 12, Lindy(f) 9, Mary E. 4 Any help in establishing the residence and family structure of this family will be appreciated. Pat
Thanks for the image, Dolores. I'm impressed. You are right, this census doesn't list the relationship. I am trying to find Josiah's parents in Va and guess that William is a nephew or great nephew, since I found he and Alice, also listed, married in 1880 and living in Texas. Fred Johnson on the census married Sidney Swain, also listed, and they moved to Colorado. I appreciate all your help with this family. Without the volunteers I would never have found them at all. I had been searching for Jane Swain, my ggrandmother for a long time. Looking for Joe Fitzgerald b.1865 living with son Richard in Nashville 1930. Thanks for the lookup. Shirley
Dear Cindilia, Thanks for the lookup, I've sent off for a marriage certificate and hopefully this will provide more info to isolate her. Thanks again. Gratefully yours, Wayne
Hi, I need a lookup for James H. "Jimmy" Jones b. 1848, wife is Rose Adaline "Rosie" or Adaline, (she died ca.1920 so may not be on this census)...not sure that James will be head of household, and if so, not sure that any children are living with him...He should be in Marion Co Tn, (7th Dist in 1900 and 1910).. Many Thanks, you guys are great! Cindy
Hi, I need a lookup for Josiah "Joe" Jones, b. 1872 wife is Mary, on the 1930 Marion Co Tn Census.. Thanks Cindy
Cindillia , thank you for looking. The NEOMI CARTER you found is not the right family. I looked up the correct spelling and it is PHULPS. There should be at east 1 son Nelis (not sure of that spelling, but is how pronounced) PHULPS and one daughter Mary Catherine PHULPS more children, they should be in Grainger Co in 1920 & 1930. Neomi CARTER would probably be in Hawkins or Sullivan Co.One brother Richard CARTER other children, I do not know their names. These families must be hiding with the ORRICK family we cannot seem to find in 1920 & 1930. Do you think some pages could be missing from the index in that area? Just a thought. THANKS AGAIN FOR TRYING. PAT
