    2. Linda Baker
    3. Thanks Dorothy, This Francis Marion Cowan is too young. The one I need was born around 1820 and had my grandfather William Andrew Cowan in 1853. They later moved to Georgia where Francis was a lawyer in Cobb county and represented Milton county in the senate. I have searched for years for a census record showing them together. Guess I'll keep on looking! Thanks again and I hope all you wonderful volunteers know how much you're appreciated. I just don't know what we'd do without you. 1. [TN-CENSUS-LOOKUP] 1860 TN census lookup request/COHIN
    2. Larry Coats
    3. I am hoping that SKS will be willing to help me locate the parents of one Sterlin COHIN, who per the 1880 census of Miller Co. MO, was b.c. 1859 in TN. Don't have a county name, unfortunately, but his wife's name in MO was Sarah M., b. 1858 MO, and the children were named: Amanda A., James C., and Lucy J. all b. MO starting in 1876. The surname may also appear as: CONE, COHEN, COHAN, COEN, KOEN, COIN, etc.. I would not pester anyone for such a thing except that I've been searching for my Grt Grandmother, Mandy Ada ("CONE") Briggs for almost 40 years; she was orphaned when very young and did not know anything about her own parents(wasn't even sure of her last name). She married in Coleman Co. TX in 1890, but she was brought to TX(from somewhere)allegedly by "missionaries", and there are stories that she was orphaned as the result of an Indian attack on a wagon train. I am thinking that this Amanda A. above may be her, but I need more information before I leap to any more disappointing and incorrect conclusions.:-/ I know that without a county, I am asking for a lot here, but this is all I have. Thanks again, Larry D.H. Coats

    3. Sorry - I did not find either Louisa or Josiah listed in 1900 TN census index. ----- Original Message ----- From: <SHERL@att.net> To: <TN-CENSUS-LOOKUP-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Tuesday, 02 March, 2004 12:29 AM Subject: [TN-CENSUS-LOOKUP] 1900 Franklin Cook, Louisa | Looking for Louisa Cook in Franklin County age 63 born in KY. Parent is Josiah who may still be living in 1900, but would be 95 years old. She was in his household in 1880 living in Decherd, Franklin County. | | Thanks in advance for the lookup. | | Shirley | | | ==== TN-CENSUS-LOOKUP Mailing List ==== | In the U.S., a census has been taken every 10 years from 1790 through 2000. All censuses taken after 1930 are still confidential and the information they contain is not open to the public. The census from 1790 through 1840 only named the head of the household and the numbers of people in categories - 3 males over 16, 2 males under 16, etc. The census from 1850 through 1930 lists each member of the household and usually gives the relationship to the head of the house. It also gives age (later years give birth month and year) and place of birth (usually just the state or foreign country). The 1890 census was almost totally destroyed by fire so there is a 20 year gap between 1880 and 1900. | CENSUS LOOKUPS HOME PAGE http://www.rootsweb.com/~censlook/ | | ============================== | Gain access to over two billion names including the new Immigration | Collection with an Ancestry.com free trial.
