    1. Re: [TMG-REFUGEES] Excluded information in other programs

    3. In my testing, the excluded information in TMG Memos imported into Legacy Notes fields preserving the TMG exclusion marker "-". This apparently is not the way to mark Notes as private in Legacy (see #4 below), but at least the exclusion marker and the information itself are preserved on import, at least for TMG Memos. Here is what I did: 1. TMG GEDCOM export, step 7, has the following options: Exclusion: X Show excluded data X Show sensitive data X With markers I checked all 3 options. 2. Upon import into Legacy 8.0.0.439 (full), the only thing I saw relating to excluded/sensitive data was when I was asked the following: "Convert Private Text Several genealogy progams use curly braces to surround Private text. Would you like to have the {private text} changed to Legacy's [[private text]] during this import?" I chose "yes", although I am not sure whether it makes any difference. (That would have to be tested.) 3. I sometimes exclude the cause of death in the TMG memo field. This information was imported into Legacy, including the exclusion marker "-", in the Death Notes field. Because Death (also Birth, Christening/Bapt, Burial) sometimes has different properties in Legacy than the other events, I will give you another example, this time from a TMG Obituary field. Again, the excluded info appears in Legacy, including the exclusion marker "-", in the Obituary Notes field. 4. The Legacy help system explains in an article called "Notes": "Legacy has the ability to mark portions of your notes as Private. When you are editing notes you can add two opening brackets [[ to start the marking of private notes that you do not want to be printed, or exported. At the end of the private notes you add two closing brackets ]] and everything following the closing brackets becomes public notes again." Although I have not played with this in Legacy any more than what I just described, the next step would presumably be to enclose the text to be excluded in Legacy brackets. It is possible to search in Legacy for Death Memos or for Events Memos beginning with "-", but I do not know how tedious it would be to complete that operation. Hope this answers your question!
