    3. Tags that export to standard GEDCOM attributes/events, I.e., having a standard GEDCOM tag such as BIRT, DEAT will be recognized as standard fact types by RootsMagic (and all other programs) and will be associated with their default sentence template. Those that are unrecognized are imported as custom fact types for which the program has no default sentence template, hence the message "NEED TO DEFINE SENTENCE". Likewise, it is the GEDCOM standard which constrains which tags can export a value from the Memo field to a GEDCOM tag value imported by RootsMagic to its Description field. That is why some Memos end up in Description and others in Note. Standard GEDCOM has no support for sentence templates. While TMG 9.04 uses RootsMagic extended GEDCOM to support Witness roles, it does not use RootsMagic extensions for event sentence templates. I can not figure out why some tags imported and others did not - but overall, RootsMagic direct import was much better with importing Tags than Gedcom. I still have lots of work ahead of me - not all my Tags imported beautifully, but I was impressed that at times [M] imported to [Desc]. It’s a start. Here are my results - in case this helps anyone. (I am now comparing my TMG sentences to what actually imports using RM direct imports - and making some adjustments to my TMG sentences . And with TMG Utilities - you can get a list of how many times you use each Role. I’m amazed at how many times, I only use a role once. Time to start cleaning up my data.) > > ~ Barb > > > The following Tags import the same for both.
