    1. [REFUGEES] Source import discussion from "big TMG list"

    3. I'm moving my portion of this discussion from the TMG-L to this list. I'd responded there thinking it was the Refugees list. Background: I'd run 1 generation report on a direct ancestor who has about 3 dozen events with many citations. The reports were run in TMG, Legacy, and RM and included end notes. I selected one citation which demonstrated fairly typical source results with TMG imports into these two programs. The Legacy was from a non-enhanced TMG 9.03 gedcom import and the RM from the direct import. At Tom Holden's request, I also added the end note as it appeared in RM from my original non-enhanced TMG 9.03 import. (And I've have chosen a better sample if I'd known they would end up in several posts.) TMG: Muskingum County, Ohio, Deed records C:436-7, Wyllys Silliman to John Cochran, 29 May 182, digital image, Muskingum County, Muskingum County Recorder's Office Online Searches (http://recorder.muskingumcounty.org/mcreconline.html: accessed July 2011). Legacy: Deed Wyllys Silliman to John Cochran: Muskingum County Recorder's Office Online Searches, Record: Deed records, Owner Or Creator: Muskingum County, State: Ohio, County: Muskingum County,Volume: C, age 436-7, Site Date: accessed July 2011, Record Info: Wyllys Silliman to John Cochran, Site Url:http://recorder.muskingumcounty.org/mcreconline.html (29 May 1812). RM (direct import): [COUNTY], [STATE], Deed records C:436-7, Wyllys Silliman to John Cochran, 29 May 1812, digital image, [OWNER OR CREATOR], [SITE TITLE] ([SITE URL]" [SITE DATE]). RM (my original non-enhanced Gedcom import) Deed Wyllys Silliman to John Cochran: Muskingum County Recorder's Office Online Searches, Record Type: Deed records, Owner Or Creator: Muskingum County, State: Ohio, County: Muskingum County, Volume: C, Page: 436-7, Site Date: accessed July 2011, Record Info: Wyllys Silliman to John Cochran, Site Url: http://recorder.muskingumcounty.org/mcreconline.html (29 May 1812). Tom also asked if I'd followed RM's suggestions prior to doing the RM direct import. No. Those suggestions would mean making numerous changes to my TMG sources. I am still using TMG and plan to continue using it for some things, SS and some report, for quite a while. My TMG sources have been carefully set up as I prefer and I am not messing those up. There was a huge amount of time and effort expended in creating them. The summary for my main TMG dataset shows 149 source types, 2099 sources, and over 33,000 citations. Many of my sources are also modified locally. I think the one person that I know personally on this list is more of a "splitter" than me and likely has a great many more sources. That's a big cleanup job. Barbara S.
