    3. Your better bet is that Second Site will do a good job with the GEDCOM export from RootsMagic, better than the RootsMagic generated website. The RootsMagic hosted sites are generated from the RootsMagic software but can be hosted independently without the 50 MB limit imposed by the free host. Apart from the main page, unless search engines can crawl JavaScript, it is not indexed by Google, etc. There is very little freedom to customise but there is control over who and what is exported to the website. Personally, I am looking forward to seeing what Second Site - GEDCOM will be able to do as I have never been very happy with what RM itself is capable of generating. It is intended to give convenient capability to produce a basic website. One should probably not expect to have a sophisticated, flexible website generator included in a genealogy database system which is why products such as Second Site and The Next Generation exist and can cost as much or more. 3. Given John Cardinal's reputation for delivering quality products, I'm sure it will be good. The existing product has grown over the years. I expect it is unrealistic to think the Gedcom product will roll out with all the same bells and whistles. Even the early versions of Second Site offered lots of options for customizations. Here's a web site that was put together some years ago providing links to web sites generated with Second Site. It gives a good idea of just how flexible the product is. http://winters-online.net/ss2websites/All/index.html Sheila Altenbernd -----Original Message----- From: Tom Holden via Sent: Thursday, October 02, 2014 5:43 PM To: Julie Rosales ; tmg-refugees@rootsweb.com Cc: wharcher@cvd.co.uk Subject: Re: [REFUGEES] Looking at possibility of changing to a new program Personally, I am looking forward to seeing what Second Site - GEDCOM will be able to do as I have never been very happy with what RM itself is capable of generating.
