All fixed, what I found. Although the details on the trouble report for 9.5 version that opened as an expired Trial version looked like only the user name was missing it turns out that the serial number had one digit wrong as well. After further digging I found a trouble report for 9.3 that had my full name and the correct serial number. Once entered the program has opened as it should and now the 'about the master genealogist' details show everything as correct again. Phew! Hope this information helps someone else one day.
