    1. [TMG] TMG 4 on Windows 7 64 bit?

    3. Hello I am going to do some editing from TMG 4 over to TMG 9.05..... Is it any way of doing that without having two computers with different Windows systems??. I have a laptop with Windows XP which TMG 4 is working fine on ,but do I have to have that laptop open with TMG 4 and the other computer with TMG 9.05?. Or is it any way (without having a virtual drive on Windows 7!) to get both versions work on Windows 7 64 bit??. I am able to use DOS on Windows 7 64 bit with help of DOSbox. As I have understood it ,TMG 4 is not DOS of course(!) ,but is not compatible with Windows 64 bit at all?. So......is it any way of working with TMG 9.05 and TMG 4 in Windows 7 64 bit without having a virtual drive with Windows XP on??? Thanks , Erik

TMG4 makes use of 16-bit libraries. These libraries are not supported on 64-bit windows. >So......is it any way of working with TMG 9.05 and TMG 4 in Windows 7 64 >bit >without having a virtual drive with Windows XP on??? Install TMG 9 in parallel on the WinXP box. Create a backup on the Win7 box, restore it on the WinXP box... Run TMG 4 and 9 at the same time on the WinXP box... When done editing, create a backup on the WinXP box and restore it on the Win7 box. OR -- What may be simpler... Use TMG4 to create a backup (SQZ) file of the database on the WinXP box. Copy that SQZ to the Win7 box. Start TMG9; use File/Import to import the TMG4 SQZ file into a NEW project. (You do NOT "restore" a TMG4 project, you MUST "import" it). You can then run two copies of TMG on the Win7 box, with one copy open on the imported project, and the other on your Win7 database. Open the TMG help file, and follow the steps under Import, Import Wizard, Import From, and The Master Genealogist Import (all part of the same section of the help file). Depending on the type of edits you plan, and how much data is in the TMG4 database -- you could even make it a second dataset within the main project and from there start moving records to the main dataset without having to re-enter all the events by hand. >Thanks , >Erik > > >_______________________________________________ >Email preferences: http://bit.ly/rootswebpref >Unsubscribe https://lists.rootsweb.com/postorius/lists/tmg@rootsweb.com >Privacy Statement: https://ancstry.me/2JWBOdY Terms and Conditions: >https://ancstry.me/2HDBym9 >Rootsweb Blog: http://rootsweb.blog >RootsWeb is funded and supported by Ancestry.com and our loyal RootsWeb >community -- bieber.genealogy@earthlink.net Dennis Lee Bieber HTTP://home.earthlink.net/~bieber.genealogy/
