I want to send family information to a newly found cousinwho knows nothing about the family and doesn’t seem interested in becoming agenealogist. A pedigree chart with simple family group sheets to expound on families would bethe clearest way to send the information. (Comments welcome) The family group sheet is printing the birth and death datesafter every spouse’s name. I have resetthe report to the defaults but I am still getting these dates. It clutters the report and is unnecessary. I don’t see a way to remove this informationand I don’t remember it printing like that in the past. How can I remove the excess information? Pedigree charts – how can I specify which wife? Her father had 4 wives; I want the 3rdone, the only one with whom he had children. Nancy
I found how to eliminate the birth and death dates on the family group sheet. I still need to know how to designate which wife to use for the pedigree chart. The pedigree chart for the child of that mother will only have that mother in it. By definition it only includes direct line, not other spouses of collateral branches. Dennis, Re: dates of parents on Family Group Sheet - under Report Options, Dates, Lifespan of parents - I had checked date to date, replaced that with None. Marriages - they are all primary because all 4 wives were different people. Terry - I agree with you, but a journal report is the book I thought I might write and finally decided it I would never get it done. Sally - I have finally decided you are correct. I did not want to waste a whole generation of the pedigree chart on her half brother with whom she is already in contact. I also do not want to slight the other two children. (Children! We are all over 65!) I think I will send her a 'brief' journal report then write up a more detailed story of each ancestor separately, as I get them completed. Nancy - pedigree chart is only for one person, and does not include that person's siblings. - Sally I use the compressed pedigree all the time. (Comments welcome) Nancy, In my view family group sheets and pedigrees are boring to tears. I'd never send them to someone who isn't an old-school genealogist. I only send narratives. But maybe that's just me. > Pedigree charts – how can I specify which wife? Her father had 4 wives; I want the 3rdone, the only one with whom he had children. You can't. Each of them is his "family." Just delete the ones you don't want to send. But then you lose the fact that he had three wives, which I think is important. That's why I use narratives. :-) Terry Reigel
