    1. [TMG] Can't Print to Adobe PDF
    2. GRA - Brian W. Hutchison
    3. I have switched from an old machine that ran on Windows 7 to a new machine running with Windows 10. I can preview reports and print to my printers just fine on the new machine. Under Administrator, I can save to File to Microsoft Word, Wordperfect, RTF, and Text okay, though RTF is the best while Microsoft Word seems to get corrupted in the printing. Does anyone know why Word is getting corrupted in this way - I am using the latest version? However, I cannot print to Adobe PDF (which is my only PDF option in TMG) though there are others on my Windows Print Control options. The print and TMG just hang when I try to print to Adobe PDF. Does anyone know what the problem is here and how I can print directly to PDF while in TMG or must I print to PDF via RTF? I would like to send PDF files to people without printing the documents first and them scanning them into a PDF file. Be aware that I am not tech savy, so your comments need to be pretty basic. Thank you! Brian Hutchison

    3. You can download and install CutePDF. It's free software and once installed, acts like a printer but just takes your output and creates a PDF with it. I use it all the time, even at work. http://www.cutepdf.com/ Constance On Thu, Jan 24, 2019 at 3:00 PM GRA - Brian W. 3. I use CutePDF all the time with word-processing documents. I never thought to use it for TMG. Thanks for the suggestion. I've been using the Microsoft-provided PDF printer as a selected printer in preferences, as recommended almost three years ago when, with Windows 10, generating the report directly to PDF stopped working. However, sending the report to 'Printer' and selecting the 'Microsoft Print to PDF' printer does work and appears to produce very similar if not identical results. Looks like there are multiple options! Judy Madnick Albany, NY On Thu, Jan 24, 2019 at 3:24 PM Constance Chappell Horne <constancehorne@gmail.com> wrote: > > You can download and install CutePDF. Note: the latest version of Word (and maybe the previous -- along with the other Office applications) support "Export" to PDF file -- NOT "print", so if you've gotten a report into Word, you can export it as a PDF. >However, I cannot print to Adobe PDF (which is my only PDF option in >TMG) >though there are others on my Windows Print Control options. Does anyone know what Presuming (since you mention Word) that you are using common paper sizes, Win10 has a "Microsoft Print to PDF" "printer" driver (if you don't see that as an optional printer, you'll have to activate the "feature" using the control panel option for Windows features). DO NOT select the "save to" "Adobe PDF" option. Instead, select "printer" as the destination, then [Preference], * selected printer, and select the M$ Print to PDF printer. Take note of where the report is being written (my recent test I didn't look at the path, only the name I gave the PDF -- took me some time to find the file on disk). >print to PDF via RTF? I would like to send PDF files to people without >printing the documents first and them scanning them into a PDF file. > Again, you do not need to scan a hard-copy -- recent Word can export as PDF, and Win10 has a PDF printer driver that can be selected as the target printer.

    3. I have the new Office software with my Windows 10, but I've had to retain my old Student version of Word to send TMG reports. After they are in the old Word, I can then open them in the new Word docx, but without that work-around, my reports were a mess. Most people I send the reports to can read the old .doc files, but some can't read .docx. So it works for me. - Sally On Thu, Jan 24, 2019 at 1:05 PM Dennis Lee Bieber < bieber.genealogy@earthlink.net> wrote: > At 1/24/2019 11:59 AM, GRA - Brian W.
