Wonder what filter I can use for finding: When I split of a new project ,I also included the people and the ones they were married to and had children with. But I also included the people the relative are living with but not having any children with. I have entered those people ,and mentioned in a "note tag" in the note field that they are "living together". I can find those by doing a List of People report ,but that gives me all of the ones with the phrase living together ,and that becomes pretty many. (about 184000 in the project and the List of people gives me about 4000 such "living together" people.)....a bit too many to go through. Not sure if it is an easier way? What I would need is a filter to find the following: People without children ,marriage or parents ,and with a note saying they are "living with". The last part of this filter would be Memo//Memo// starts with// living together ,but I am not sure about the first part. I don`t really need those few people with this criteria (it is a lot less than 4000!) ,and had thought of deleting those few people ,but first make a note on the relative that he/she was living together with the person to be deleted.... So what you want are: # of Children // = Equals // 0 // AND # of Marriage Group tags // = Equals // 0 // AND # of Parents // = Equals // 0 // AND Memo // Memo // begins with // living together // END Hope this give you ideas, Michael
Thanks a lot ,that solved it all!. I knew it....it had to be something I overlooked. That gave 72 people ,not 4000!!. I just hadn`t found the right filter among all the possibilities! -----Opprinnelig melding----- Fra: Michael J. Michael told you about the "#" filters which probably will solve your problem. But, let me make some comments about your situation -- TMG is unlkke most other genealogy program in how a fater and mother are treated. Other program _assume_ that the children's parents are married. In fact, you cannot add a child to a father (mother) without the wife (husband) _AND_ a Marriage Tag. TMG allows a child to have one parent without the other. Becasue of this, many TMG users are not forced to have a Marriage Tag for a child's parent(s). Many users, as have you, add Tags that relate more of the facts in the case. In this way, narrative reports can be produced that leave fewer questions to the reader. Another option for TMG users is to create a Custom Marriage Tag (with appropriate Tag & Witness Sentences) with Tag Labels, such as Marr One Nite, Marr Liason, or Marr NOT. The Tag/Witness Sentences would indicate that there was not a marriage, but that the couple had relations but did not marry. Or the Sentences note that the couple lived together for a period of time, but never married. If these Custom Tag(s) are created in the Marriage Tag Group then TMG treats the couple as having been married. For narrative reports, this is not a problem as the Sentences report the situation as you wish. However, for chart-type reports (including Family Group Sheets (FGS)) the couple is definitely treated as married using whatever date/place is entered in the Tag. On FGS and reports displaying the Tag Label, the treatment is not too bad for the user although it might mislead a reader unless the reader is warned. There are many ppossibilities using this method. Some users like it and othgers do not. Lee
