    3. Bud, Something like that happened to me about a year and a half ago. After I did an optimize I was getting an error. I had to restore from backup. My solution was to backup before I did an optimize and copy the directory so I could replace the file that was missing. I was then able to do a validate and had no problem with a 2nd optimize. The problem stopped when 6 months later my computer died. So it may have been a failing hard drive. Good luck!
