    3. Dennis, The EMF output in VCF is broken. Save a file and nothing seems to be able to display it correctly. The BMP output is based on 96dpi images there is a tendency for characters to have staircases. JPG is alright for small charts, but again looses definition on straight edges. Using a PDF pseudo printer (e.g. PDF995, etc) is the only effective method of external printing for charts up to 200" * 200". VCF files used in machine can plot to plotter with VCF installed are limited by the plotter driver. The normally unusable "Paint" program provided on my Win7 Pro is able to properly open a fan chart produced via TMG8/VCF (and just duplicated using TMG9 -- I haven't done anything with 9 yet and still need to configure my preferred layout)... But Photoshop CS4 gives an error about "not the right kind of document" (even though EMF is in the list of file types) I was going to try my old Illustrator CS2 -- but it seems Adobe shut-down the registration server for that version, and it won't let me run it in "trial mode". M$ Word 2013 was able to load the EMF file. Hmmm -- Seems Photoshop can't open the EMF files I generated using R graphics functions either. It may not be a VCF fault, but something at a lower level of the OS that is (normal for M$) violating the documented specifications for EMF. Granted -- one also needs to have a printer with large format capability selected to set the page size even in Word. -- bieber.genealogy@earthlink.net Dennis Lee Bieber HTTP://home.earthlink.net/~bieber.genealogy/
