TMG v8 on Windows 7: After initial installation of TMG and considerable putzing around trying to get folder locations correct, I now have TMG pointing at the folder D:\TMG8 for data. (Settings in Preferences all point this way plus I've made a Data_Paths.txt file and inserted it in the folder which holds the operating copy of tmg8.exe.) Problem is, the log files keep writing to D:\Users\Rick\My Documents\The Master Genealogist v8. How can I change this? Rick Van Dusen

Rick, I can't vouch for TMG8, but I seriously doubt there was any change on this in TMG9. In TMG9 I find only a few logs associated with the initial running of TMG after installation in the My Documents tree. All current logs are in the Logs subfolder under the folder in which I specified "UserData" was to be placed in the Data_Paths.txt file. Terry Reigel

Okay, figured this out: When I copied the Data_paths.txt file I'd used on the old computer and modified it for Win7, I'd failed to change the user name to my current machine's user name. (!) That means the file was not applied by TMG because it the users didn't match. Problem of TMG paths solved.
