My cousin reports that Exhibits don't appear in Box Charts. Here are the details: 1. TMG 9.05 on Win 7 (all newly installed on new harddrive on about 4-year-old computer). 2. Exhibits imported into TMG 7 a few years ago, all External. a. None of the imported Exhibits has a correct Topic (all say "untitled)"--with that close-parenthesis). (They were this way in TMG8; don't remember if in TMG7.) b. Any of these will appear in an Images window accompanying the PV. c. None of these will appear in a Descendant Box Chart. 3. Exhibits manually added since the mass import (including those added in TMG8 or TMG7)... a. Do show a Topic (automatically use image's filename), b. Appear (same as others) in the Images window. c. Do appear in Box Chart. 4. When I take the project's .sqz and restore it on my computer: a. Imported Exhibits have "untitled)" for Topic. b. All Exhibits appear in Images window. c. All Exhibits appear in Box Charts. 5. When my cousin takes the .sqz back, he still doesn't have the imported Exhibits in the Box Chart (but still has the added Exhibits in the Box Chart). 6. If he creates a new External Exhibit from the same image file, the new Exhibit will have a name and will appear in the Box Chart. (Seems this rules out corrupt image files.) 7. The processes of looking at Exhibits via Exhibits Log, finding a file to Add as an Exhibit, etc., all go to the correct folders/paths, and show the expected image files. (Seems this rules out any problem with paths.) 8. I've had him try: Reset to Defaults in the Report, Optimize>VFI>Optimize, and finally Reindex. None of these steps has made any difference. (Seems this rules out index problems, which might make a difference since the Backup/Restore process we use to transfer projects [via .sqz, data only, not Exhibits] abandons the indexes and rebuilds them, if I understand correctly.) 9. So we're at the point now of duplicating every Exhibit and deleting the original, unless somebody has an answer to this oddball situation. Rick Van Dusen
Hi Rick, I am on the road at the moment, but I seem to remember that there are some image file formats that TMG can handle but VCF cannot Someone else may be able to help here.
