What functions are you really asking for? For simple (no password/encryption) pure ZIP format files, Windows 7 already is capable of opening them (they look just like any other directory window) to permit one to copy files out (I'm not sure if the "Extract All" context menu is Win7 also). I don't believe it supports adding files to an archive. Neither will it handle LHA, LZH, GZ (I don't think), TGZ (aka .tar.gz), BZ2, etc. compression modes. On my current desktop, I have 7-Zip installed (and I believe that is what is authorized for installation at work also). One of my laptops (not sure if the newer Win7 or the ancient WinXP) has PeaZip. -- bieber.genealogy@earthlink.net Dennis Lee Bieber HTTP://home.earthlink.net/~bieber.genealogy/
