I would be very grateful for any help anyone can give. Off-hand, the ownership and protections of your USER data files were changed in the Win10 upgrade. Reinstall/Repair only affects the executable program (which should have been in C:\program files (x86)\something ), not user data files. Out of curiousity -- do you actually log into that machine with a user name of "user"? That's what the file paths are claiming. If so, my suggestion would be to navigate to the c:\users\user directory, right click the "documents" icon (may display as "my documents"), select Properties. Step 1: click the [] Read-only box until it is not shaded or check-marked, then hit [Apply] and respond yes to all the following pop-ups. If TMG still gives the error, you may have to return to the properties page and pick the Security tab, pick your user account, and if you don't have all permissions, pick the [Edit] button... Select the user account (again), then [X] the boxes in the allow column (typically everything except the last "special" box need to be selected). Note: this step may need to be performed on each layer of files and directories. -- bieber.genealogy@earthlink.net Dennis Lee Bieber HTTP://home.earthlink.net/~bieber.genealogy/

    3. DEnnis is probably right about ownership of files. When you access Cortana it suggestes it will work better with a Microsoft login and if you provide one then you login to your machine with that not your original login so there is a change of ownership Jeff On 15/08/2015 6:16 PM, Dennis Lee Bieber via wrote: > At 03:52 AM 8/15/2015, Jeanette Hartnack via wrote: >> Hello fellow TMG users. >> >> >> >> I am hoping someone on the list can help me through a problem I've >> encountered in the last few days. 3. Hi List With update to Windows 10 I had a error message for the following file COMDLG32.OCX, I found the file at Window/sysWOW64/COMDLG32.OCX. I download a TMG V9.05 and did a repair, and I was able to restore my project. Hope this will help if you have the same error. Robert

    3. Thanks for all this great advice. It all seems relevant and confirms what I eventually came to realise - I had to see what was going on in those log files. The problem appears to have been solved by changing the permissions as has been suggested. I believe (fingers crossed) I've got things running smoothly again without the error messages. I am so relieved! Again, many thanks for your input.
