I am also having this problem. Plus, OneDrive quit and Family Tree Maker died during an update and won't restart. The last Windows Update was the 14th. Not sure if this was the cause or not. I will checkout the fixes for TMG listed earlier. It all seems relevant and confirms what I eventually came to realise - I had to see what was going on in those log files. The problem appears to have been solved by changing the permissions as has been suggested. I believe (fingers crossed) I've got things running smoothly again without the error messages. I am so relieved! Again, many thanks for your input. When you access Cortana it suggestes it will work better with a Microsoft login and if you provide one then you login to your machine with that not your original login so there is a change of ownership Jeff On 15/08/2015 6:16 PM, Dennis Lee Bieber via wrote: > At 03:52 AM 8/15/2015, Jeanette Hartnack via wrote: > Off-hand, the ownership and protections of your USER data > files were changed in the Win10 upgrade. > > Reinstall/Repair only affects the executable program (which > should have been in C:\program files (x86)\something ), not user data files. > > Out of curiousity -- do you actually log into that machine > with a user name of "user"? 1. It was *not *necessary to reinstall TMG, only to run it as administrator once, and no subsequent file errors. I never had need to look at those log files before. 2. The other errors were fixed after using HP Utility and Windows update. Took about 10-15 minutes to install updates, but all was well after that. 3. It turned off Norton360, which took me over an hour to get back. Was finally able to run and install update. Bob On 8/16/2015 5:10 PM, Walter D Wood via wrote: > I am also having this problem.
