I would like an approach that does not require editing >custom census tags for each of the 12 couples. The same thing can essentially occur for other censuses and for other Tag. My three great grandfather (3GGF) is noted on tax lists every year for about 50 years. The tax assesment differs by year so that he was charged for different land and possessions (horses, cattle, watches, etc.) What I did was to create multiple Roles each with their own Sentence. Then I would assign the appropriate Role depending on the Sentence needed. Some Roles provided for multiple years with greatly different holdings but in the same location (subsequent Sentences did not repeat the location). Some Roles provided for multiple years with the same holdings in the same location. Sometimes the first Role in a "group" printed most of the Sentence and subsequent Roles only noted the added Dates. Some give the dates and the last Sentence in a group gives the major information and final date. An example of this last might be: Role A - [P] <|and [PO]> appeared on the < [L]> tax list <for [D]>,[:NP:] Role B - [+] and <for [D]> <[M]> Role C - [+] <for [D]>,[:NP:] with the result being something like: He appeared on the Montgomery County, Kentucky, tax lists for 2000, for 2001, and for 2002 with four horses and two town lots. If you only had two years, use just Roles A & B. For each added year, use Role C for the "middle" year(s). In assigning Roles to a person, I tried to be consistent in how the Sentences read to make it easy for a reader.to follow the discussion. The combinations of Roles Sentence for my 3GGF reduced the redundancy to a minimum and shortened the narrative by about eight lines. Lee Hoffman/KY
