Coloring may be helpful within TMG, but when it comes to generating reports those colors don't usually translate to black and white -- the usual print mode. It can do nicely if you have a color printer; but few people do and for more of those that do, the printer is slow). Small, short printings with color during work-up can be helpful, but not in the long run. Getting a narrative to flow smoothly can be a challenge for many individuals. For me, the solution varies by the individual. In most cases, the solution is rearranging the text, Tags (Sort Dates are very helpful in this area), and often my thinking (usually by getting someone else to be the devil's advocate for me). Along with the idea of the devil's advocate (usually my wife), I often check with other researchers. For not a few times, these point out information I have missed that smooths the transition of the narrative. Very often, I will just take some scrap paper and write out the narrative (usually just the main points with a lot of abbreviation). This gets me away from the rote sentences that seem to clog my mind and gives me a fresh look at the person. Keep your potential reader in mind during this process and be creative in your writing much as you would if you weren't using TMG, but writing the narrative in your word processor. After I do this, I translate the result back into TMG sometimes by combining two or more Tags or by splitting up a Tag and moving some of the information from one Tag to "later" in the narrative.
