    3. Michael, Thanks for providing the LOE marriage filter. I have had this problem many times in the past but haven't run into it for a couple of years. I thought they were all cleaned up, but just ran the filter and discovered 14 unbalanced tags! Once I get these cleaned up, does this mean that as long as I'm running version 9.05, it will never be a problem in the future? Thanks, Joyce -----Original Message----- From: tmg-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:tmg-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of Michael J. This issue came up quite some time ago, and it was difficult to find the cause back then. (Well spotted, Judy!) Users are generally unaware that whether a spouse will have their Marriage tag marked Primary depends upon how they entered that tag and how they linked the spouses to that tag. How the Primary designation is automatically set is outlined in the "Tag Type Descriptions" chapter of my on-line book. See the discussion of "Primary" in the "Tag Attributes" topic of that chapter: http://www.mjh-nm.net/TAGCUSTM.HTML#TagPrimary The footnote to that explanation of Primary goes into some detail about versions prior to V8.05 causing the issue Judy spotted of both spouses not being Primary to their Marriage tag. Tags in the Marriage group which were added prior to V8.05 "may" have this issue if the tag and links were created as described in this footnote. http://www.mjh-nm.net/TAGCUSTM.HTML#pgfId-1270806 That footnote also gives an example of a detailed Filter which can be used with a List of Events report to identify all Marriage group tags with non-symmetric Primary designations. Tags identified by such a report should be carefully reviewed as there are rare cases where you may wish to have non-symmetric Primary designations, especially if there are multiple Marriage Group tags for the same Principals. Judy, since you have at least some of these Marriage tags, you may wish to use this LOE Filter to identify any other such tags. Hope this helps explain this obscure issue, Michael The TMG archive is found here: http://archiver.rootsweb.ancestry.com/th/index/TMG/ Instructions on how to subscribe to TMG: http://lists.rootsweb.ancestry.com/index/other/Software/TMG.html ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to TMG-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message
