John, As a licensee of both SecondSite and GEDSite, what will be the difference between the two when GEDSite V2.01 is released? Will there be any need to maintain two different (but similar) software programs? GedSite v2.00 is now available. This is a major new release with new features and enhancements, and it is the first paid upgrade since GedSite 1 was released 13 months ago. There have been 28 free upgrades since then, 15 of which included significant new features. To read the newsletter for this release, and for download and purchase information, please use the following (shortened) URL: https://goo.gl/JNE4rz The newsletter includes a special announcement for TMG users: Version 2.01 of GedSite, a free upgrade of GedSite 2 scheduled for release in January 2018, will include an option to read TMG project data *directly* from the TMG database and without exporting via GEDCOM. This will avoid multiple issues with TMG's GEDCOM export. For example, reading the TMG project directly will allow GedSite to use TMG's sentence templates; TMG does not include sentence templates in its GEDCOM export. You cannot use GedSite 2 with a GedSite 1 license. All users need to purchase one of two products: . If you have a GedSite 1 license: https://goo.gl/PY1Ewj . If you do not have a GedSite 1 license: https://goo.gl/zVhaP4 After you purchase, I will send you registration information and download instructions. If you encounter difficulty purchasing the program, please contact me off-list using my JFCardinal address at Gmail. If you have any trouble installing or using GedSite, post a message on the GedSite discussion list (GS-L), or contact me directly, your choice. Chuck, When GedSite 2.01 is released, it will have great support for TMG projects, but that support won't be quite as complete as Second Site offers. For example, it's unlikely that GedSite will import the DNA records in a TMG project. There may also be some challenges with other data types that are present in a TMG project but are not present in a GEDCOM file. I am offering the direct import from TMG for a few reasons. 1 - People who use TMG and other software but do not have Second Site will be able to buy a single program--GedSite--rather than two. 2 - GedSite is my main focus now and it has some features and capabilities that are not in Second Site. For example, the Map User Item released today in GedSite 2 has more event filtering capabilities and the maps support "marker clusters". Given the TMG support will only be lacking TMG features that are lightly used, some people may opt for GedSite to have access to its unique features. 3 - I have some other plans for the new components I am writing to read the TMG database directly, and so the opportunity was there to add it to GedSite. Also, I can use the TMG direct import as a test of non-GEDCOM data for GedSite while using a database with which I am very familiar. That will help if I ever add a direct import for data from other programs. John
