Kurt, PjcVersion=7 is for TMG v6.01. I do not know if TMG v9 will open a TMG v6.01 project. I do not have any such projects to test. I think TMG v9 will _restore_ a TMG v6.01 project, but to do so, you need a .SQZ file, i.e., a backup of the project from TMG v6.01. If you have a SQZ file from TMG v6.01, no problem. If you do not, then it's harder to move forward; I forget what's involved. If no one else answers you about how to convert from 6.01 to v9.05, you may want to ask about this on the Wholly Genes Forum. Jim Byram reads those posts and he is the expert. Terry, I am not seeing your posts via TMG-L. Did you respond to Kurt on-list, or off? Regarding folder names, I am not sure why moving the project to an aptly-named folder would hurt anyting, but I suppose path preferences would need to be updated. The issue I see when I connect to other people's PCs is they don't know which end is up. They will have multiple projects, they won't know which one is current, they don't know which version of TMG was last used with the project, they don't know where their backups are, etc. Based on those messes, I recommend that people take steps to get more organized. I don't think so. If not TMG 6, 7, and 8 installers are available and would be able to open it and create a backup. > Terry, > > I am not seeing your posts via TMG-L. No, it clearly doesn't hurt, but it does cause issues with the paths which are stored in the project files. If you don't change the paths backups and exports will go to the old folder, and when adding Exhibits TMG will default to the old location. In addition, paths are stored with any saved report defs and they will also go to the old location -- whether that's an issue depends on where they were specified before. > The issue I see when I connect to other people's PCs is > they don't know which end is up. I understand that concern, and it's probably a good idea to use a set of folders that are not mis-labeled. Terry Reigel

I have a copy of the TMG v6.01 installation file that I could send Kurt. The question is what version of Windows Kurt has. TMG v6 will install in Win 10. But my copy was to a 32-bit version of Win 10. It gave me a warning about a module that was not designed for Win 10. I suspect this module is used for reports and would not be a problem otherwise. I opened a v6 project and created a backup with it all without any problem. I then Restored that project to TMG v9. It appears to have Restored OK although I have not done extensive testing. There are some caveats about installing TMG v6 to a later versions of Windows. With TMG v6, the program and all data files were placed in the Program Files TMG folder. TMG v9 also does this, but on first start-up, it copies that data to the user's operation folder. So in Win Vista and later, these data files need to be moved to the user's folder. Also, the File Paths in Preferences (Program=>General & Project=>Advanced) must be updated. Even then, the Backup function initially want to backup to Drive A:, and that must be changed. Lee
I have never had tmg 6 ,but wouldn`t it be possible to open tmg 6.01 projects with tmg 7.04 or 8.04? should still exist some old installers around....? just a thought.... -----Opprinnelig melding----- Fra: TMG [mailto:[email protected]] På vegne av John Cardinal Sendt: 23. desember 2017 16:54 Til: TMG-L <[email protected]> Emne: Re: [TMG] Startup after a 10 years break Kurt, PjcVersion=7 is for TMG v6.01.
