For anyone following this thread, an important point. As Erik and I have discovered, there was a very important but subtle point to John Cardinal's advice earlier: > use a List of People (LoP) report.... > Configure the LoP to create a tab-delimited output file. On > On the Report Definition Screen, set "File type" to > "Text (ASCII) Delimited with Tab". Erik cannot have TMG create the Excel file directly since TMG uses as its Excel output the "old" style *.xls file type. That file type has a maximum of 64K lines, which is way too few for Erik. So creating a tab-delimited text file instead which has only a file-size limit is not only recommended, it is required. The new Excel with a larger max for its lines can then import this file containing many more than 64K lines. This intermediate format requirement via a tab-delimited text file for Excel import is similar to having to output to the intermediate format of *.rtf files and then import to the new Windows 10 version of Word. Yes ,word 2013 takes doc files and can open them. The docx file or xlsx file is not an option to view among the output choices in my TMG 9.05`s list of people-report. Is it any possibility of adding xlsx and docx formats to the report listoutput in tmg 9? That would make a possibility of output to xlsx or docx. -----Opprinnelig melding----- Fra: TMG [mailto:[email protected]] På vegne av Michael J Hannah Sendt: 23. november 2017 00:41 Til: TMG-L submission address <[email protected]> Emne: Re: [TMG] 2Gb file limit For anyone following this thread, an important point. That would make a possibility of output to xlsx or >docx. No... The various .*x formats of newer Office programs are zipped up packages of XML structured files. The older Office formats are custom binary formats. The only way to have TMG add those formats would be to have a new report writer... But it took years for Wholly Genes to replace the old report writer (as I recall that had still been a 16-bit module -- and was unusable on 64-bit OS). Since Wholly Genes is no longer producing software, this would appear to be something that will never happen. -- [email protected] Dennis Lee Bieber HTTP://home.earthlink.net/~bieber.genealogy/

Erik, Whether TMG supports xlsx or not doesn't matter. That's not the right format to use with the Set Person Field feature in TMG Utility. As described in my instructions, set "File type" to "Text (ASCII) Delimited with Tab". John
