Thanks for your advice, John and Don, but no joy, I'm afraid.  I had already checked languages and I've just double checked -- for all relevant tags, the Language in the Tag Type Definition screen/Roles and Sentences tab is English (US).  I don't recall ever having used a language other than English (US) in TMG or SS. I've checked carefully the TMG Help topic for Tag Type Definition, learnt a few things but didn't find any solutions. To recap and add some data, my problem is that: * for a few tag types (standard tags Baptism & Engagement, custom tags Court and Image) and no others, there are no sentences assigned to the various roles listed in the Tag Type Definition screen/Roles and Sentences tab; * when I add sentences to some or all of the roles listed in the Roles and Sentences tab, the sentences appear (and remain) in the Sentence and Witness Sentence fields in the preceding Tag Type List screen; * but when I return to the Roles and Sentences tab, the sentences just added have disappeared for all roles; * frequent Optimise and VFI do not seem to help; * for these 4 tag types (and no others), I get Role not found errors when making a SS site.
